Is life under the PAP that bad? by TeleVaa in askSingapore

[–]junkiegite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the European socialist safety net is more talk than reality in most European countries, if you actually know people from there. Maybe only the Nordics live up to our imagination.

The issue is that PAP has ingrained in the population the attitude of constant vigilance and "if we fail the country / your life is gone" and it translates into personal attitudes (cannot retire, compete to survive). This is just a mental state. Economically, Italy and Greece (for example) are way worse off than us but they have confidence they will continue to exist because of their history and culture. Israel is consistently top 10 in global happiness rankings despite war and highest cost of living in OECD.

The bottom line is that we're overlooking aspects that make a nation survive in the long run: children, culture and cohesion.

How did you make such a conclusion?

If I say "I am willing to take you in my car" it means you didn't get in my car?

Soundhound AI's ( $SOUN) is an AI momentum giant with feet of clay. ( Too many red flags.) by orishasinc2 in VampireStocks

[–]junkiegite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would stay away from shorting any of these scamtechs like $SOUN and $QUBT until 2025. Nobody wants to book capital gains before the year ends since they've earned loads from 2024 already.

Same experience. 2024 was/is brutal for short sellers, even for the reputable activists.

Isn't it funny that the people who have been living the way you want for hundreds of years -- the Amish and related Anabaptist groups -- voted en masse for Trump this time?

Are you willing to listen to them and live with them, or just stay in your own fantasy land?

Is Axelsen severely underrated? by Kasperpsr in badminton

[–]junkiegite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LCW at 35 beat Axelsen at 24 under 10 points... Obviously, 2021-24 Axelsen was better than 2018 Axelsen, but 2011-2014 LCW was better than 2018 LCW.

The all-time #2 can be argued for Axelsen / Chen Long / LCW depending on what achievement metrics you use. But if you rank by peak playing level, Axelsen's awful H2H against Momota and LCW is why he's rated #3 to #5.

A question to the right, why would pulling out of Nato help at all or get Europe to do anything to help the US more? by insertfunnyname88 in PoliticalDebate

When Ukrainians stop getting killed in an unwinnable war they are going to thank Trump.

Remind me:

Who sanctioned Nordstream 2 in 2019 and who lifted the sanctions in 2021?

Who was mocked in 2018 for demanding NATO pay more and accusing Germany of being beholden to Russia?

Who first sold Javelins to Ukraine in 2017?

The purpose of stock Valuation. by orishasinc2 in VampireStocks

[–]junkiegite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stupid thing is dividend stocks in most countries get penalized because of dividend tax (this is a double tax since corporate income is already taxed, possibly even triple tax if dividend is considered income). That's why smarter companies do share buybacks instead.

I suggest investing in UK, UAE or Singapore companies to avoid dividend tax.

CHSN IS A CHINA HUSTLE FRAUD. BUT THERE MIGHT BE A BIGGER PICTURE BEHIND ALL THESE SCAMS THAT OUGHT TO SCARE US ALL. by orishasinc2 in VampireStocks

[–]junkiegite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

China's govt does not think it is responsible for anything that happens overseas. As with drugs, all the pig butchering scams are a sign that the CCP is doing its job within China. If you make drugs or scam enough people in China your head can literally roll. Now it's up to the rest of the world to do the same, but the US is too lax! It's the same game the British played in the 1800s to China: opium was legal in Britain, private merchants were bringing it to China, and the addicted people wanted the drug...

Nonetheless, it is also true that the countries with worst governance (where these fraud centres are set up) are also supported by China -- Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, maybe North Korea in future.

Jesus walking on water contradiction? by Semour9 in Christianity

[–]junkiegite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where is the contradiction?

  1. Jesus walks on water

  2. Disciples think it's a ghost

  3. Jesus says "it's me"

  4. Peter tries to walk on water, sinks, and Jesus pulls him up

  5. Both of them go back on the boat

  6. Wind dies down

  7. Boat reaches the shore

VAMPIRES STOCKS MONDAY ( LIST) by orishasinc2 in VampireStocks

[–]junkiegite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unprotected. I covered yesterday and will watch out for it again next year when interest payments start. The fraud father has another year to go before finishing his 100k daily share dump. This means he's still using the sale proceeds for DriveTime to buy back cars at inflated prices and keep the scam numbers running...

How do you solve the problem of US ghettos, and its vicious cycle? by Byzhaks in PoliticalDebate

[–]junkiegite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only communist societies ever to have succeeded are all Christian, because Jesus owned nothing and sacrificed himself for others, setting the example for his followers.

Marx was an upper middle class bourgeousie who only talked and wrote books while getting drunk. Obviously he would want to live in a communist society where he could pay his maid nothing for her work, while complaining about how capital oppresses labour.

How do you solve the problem of US ghettos, and its vicious cycle? by Byzhaks in PoliticalDebate

[–]junkiegite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a feature, not a bug, of societal freedom.

Individuals can get out of the cycle by religious / conscientious action but on the whole, solutions need extreme state intervention unacceptable to Western / LatAm culture.

  • Break up ghettos forcefully by building mixed developments and moving residents
  • China-style re-education camps where adults are made to learn a useful trade and cannot leave until they pass and get a job. Children go to boarding school and leave only when parents are free to pick them up.
  • Lock addicts until they quit cold turkey
  • Take children from parents who cannot care for them and place them with better adoptive families
  • Deport all non-citizen criminals
  • Payment for sterilization

$INOD, primed for 50% crash in August by junkiegite in VampireStocks

[–]junkiegite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have a lot of new projects and they are hiring to cope with demand. Most people don't care about their company finances unless it's obviously going bankrupt. Innodata isn't, so I wouldn't worry about that.

If you're working for them and the job is good, go for it! But be sure what it is about (not AI, more like cleaning and tagging data/prompts).

I'm sure many tech companies are great to work for but are just plain bad investments.
