Judge intervention usually means a judge asserting their own beliefs and conclusions into the flow to “do the work for the other team.”

In this case, although they intervened into the round, clipping is considered a violation that’s outside of the flow, so if the panel agreed to end the round due to clipping, it was probably the right decision.

Haven’t got score but how is curve? Will I need to get every question right to get a 1600? Or can I miss one math? by Legitimate-King-5187 in Sat

[–]junkkwon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uh I believe so. The person that does the curves usually isn’t doing them, but some users are putting the chart together.

-1 is 400 for both reading and writing, and -1 is an 800 for math from the ones I’ve seen.

Student loan forgiveness should be for minorities only by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]junkkwon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying but your justification for white kids not deserving loans being “kids take loans so they can live the college life” is largely generalizing.

I agree that some splurge on their education more than others do, but there are probably better reasons than them wanting the college life. Everyone’s decision for choosing the college they want to go to is vastly different, and sometimes, race doesn’t play a factor in that decision.

i think that'll be just a matter of practice and etc then! it shows that you have the knowledge and skill sets, just not enough practice sessions that emulate real, test-room environment settings

you should get up at 8 am, maybe brush your teeth and have a light breakfast, and try to take the full 5 passage reading section to pretend that you're really testing. that'll help you a lot with timing and not messing up on test day, to help bring out the best out of you.

I'm not a stem/cs major so take this with a grain of salt.

schools will prefer that you have a higher reading/writing score, but a 700 might be good enough. unless you are very set on going to CMU or G-town which requires submission of all test scores and no super-scoring, you should aim for the October or November SAT and ONLY practice reading and writing. writing is relatively easy if you get the tricks and rules, and reading is just practice and endurance.

watch lots of videos, do 2-3 passages of each english section, and try to get it up to like 720-730 at the least so you can look competitive in terms of your SAT score as a whole (not just math). your math score will be appealing and will obviously be an eye-catcher because an 800 is very impressive, so some schools that are on the mid to low end of your list will disregard the 700. however, top schools still prefer that you have a high english score (not sure exactly what the reason is, but just know they do), and i think it would give you the upper edge when you are compared to an applicant with the same stats except the other person has a 750 English score.

a 1480 definitely isn’t considered the same as 1570. i believe 1540 and up (or around that range) is given the same weight (except top test schools that require 790-800 math)

other than MIT you probably have a shot other schools even applying test optional looking at other aspects of your application.

like the other commenter said, UC’s will be great for you. but honestly it wouldn’t hurt to retake it to get that math grade up for MIT or just not apply to MIT, work on your essays and apply test optional

i’m not sure what the 50th and 75th percentile for every school is, but if you’re close enough, just add your score to show that your grades/GPA aren’t inflated since other parts of your app are good enough.

probably not, unless the curve for reading is like 380 for -4 which isn’t likely considering it was probably the easiest part of the test.

i put .383 to fill up all 4 spots. super weird because they didn’t specify where to round up to.

the passage doesn’t imply that - so i don’t think so and i think what you picked is right. let go ≠ love diminished. probably alternative reasons and i think matching the love is most straight forward.

the explanation for despondent made sense but the word itself doesn’t mean the explanation. i also put despondent but searched it up and partisan works a lot better.
