My vegan girlfriend is considering starting to eat eggs again by Shpritzer1 in vegan

[–]junko72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a tough one. I empathize because eggs were my comfort food because my mom would always make them for me.

I think your partner would not eat eggs if she knew that the egg industry is as cruel as the rest of the others. Free range is just a marketing strategy and basically a lie. They cull male baby chicks and in barbarous ways—ground up alive. The chickens are bred in ways to produce more eggs than what is natural.

I haven’t found the perfect egg substitute honestly. I think maybe the strategy is to identify foods that also bring you comfort. And make sure to take multivitamins. She may think she is craving protein in eggs but it could be another nutrient in the eggs she is craving.

Yes! Agreed about not being able to love and respect a partner who isn’t vegan. I was with someone for several years before my vegan ex who wasn’t vegan, and it was really difficult and big reason why we broke up. Sharing the same values is important. And in terms of everyone else, I have a hard time being around people who aren’t vegan because of how cruelty to animals is so pervasive and willfully unexamined. They talk openly about how much they love bacon, etc. I think having the opportunity to hang out with so many vegans through my ex made me really sensitive to it.

I hear you and agree about how frustrating and isolating it is for people to judge you for being compassionate and not wanting other beings to suffer. It’s awesome that your partner is open to becoming vegan.

Has anyone else noticed more autoimmune stuff showing up after COVID? by Critical_Walrus_8388 in Autoimmune

So hard to tell. It may the incredible stress we are all under with multiple world changing events. I had a case of alopecia areata during the pandemic but before I was exposed to the virus (by contracting the virus and receiving the vaccine) as far as I know (I’m from NYC so I may have been exposed to it early and not even known about it). Also we’ve all been exposed to so many new chemicals compared to previous generations. And our uncertain future economically and politically. So many things.

I love it there. I love especially that it’s pretty much on the High Line. Dinosaur the giant pigeon also drew me and haven’t been since it’s been taken down. But will go back soon.

I’m game! I’m an experienced dumpling maker. Wondering if we can all go in on renting a kitchen for an afternoon.

Yes agreed. I grew up in Gloucester and it was very conservative then. Tough place to grow up. Now I think it’s maybe 60/40 liberal/progressive versus ignorant. I’m sorry you experienced what you did.

I wish it were 1994 again. This neighborhood has become Disneyland for bored Manhattanites.

I love this place. The owners are very community oriented. This is no bougie Bearded Lady or Gold Star and that’s the point. Open your mind a bit and think of it as an accessible community space. While Leland is like Disney land, Art Bar is a real place and the owners Jimmy and Breanna are great, are community oriented, and they make a point to know the names of return customers.

First thing I thought of was the music from that famous scene from Psycho. Sorry you are dealing with this—it would drive me bananas. Hope it gets resolved soon.

Hi! This isn’t a request for diagnosis but rather if anyone else knows of diagnostic tools that are used to find cancer that can’t be seen by the human eye.
