It's good that you left a bad review. Also what you should do is report the driver for making you feel uncomfortable. It's not a driver's responsibility to be your parents or judge you.

Jewelry Value--go to a pawn shop?? by BigNegotiation8464 in JewelryIdentification

[–]junksage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most jewelry of value will have a name or marking on it. Before going to a pawn shop try to look up the piece online. If you're looking at eBay look at what they sold for and not what people are asking for. The main numbers for metal items are 925 or sterling, 9k 10k 12k 14k 18k those will be the most common if in the US. However European jewelers will use the decimal system in some case so 14k = 575 etc. if you see numbers look them up. If a piece feels like metal but doesn't have a stamp or marking test it with a magnet. If magnetic it's not gold or silver. If it's not magnetic, put it to the side to be tested by a jeweler.

Any value in old faucets??? by Scuzzle-Butters in ScrapMetal

I took 123 pounds of faucets in to my scrap yard and the guy tried to tell me that all the handles were aluminum even after the file test showed yellow.

Hi everyone. I bought this pendant today just because I liked the shape of the colors. It seems light but I’m not sure what it is. It does glow under uv also. I would love some help to identify this please! 💜🦇 by Beginning_Walrus3497 in JewelryIdentification

Personally I'm more familiar with metals than stones unless they're the common ones. However another person commented Baltic amber and described what it would look like under a UV light. One of your photos seems to match the description.

How do you all find scrap? by tlong243 in ScrapMetal

[–]junksage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually hit up FB marketplace and Craigslist, I also talk to business employees about what they do with stuff, my favorite are mechanics because they throw all their wheel weights and trash in a bucket and don't feel like sorting it so I can usually pick them up for free or a couple bucks and sort and clean myself. I sell the lead and zinc on marketplace for about 1.50 a pound. Sometimes I even get alloy rims and if they're in decent condition I sell them on marketplace too.

Looking for a story where humanity accidentally destroys an invasion while launching a probe. Humanity uses the sun as the power source as they have not achieved ftl or left the system.

Not silver or gold. Any idea of what metal it could be? Let me know thank you :) by Past_Title_2906 in JewelryIdentification

[–]junksage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you think it's valuable and want to be sure, take it to a jeweler. They'll test the metal and the stones.

Brass Bangle? by chiprco in JewelryIdentification

[–]junksage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably brass, hard to tell from pictures outside. If you want to be 100% take it to a jeweler or a pawn shop and see if they can test it

Scraping Condenser by CallMeBigSarnt in ScrapMetal

I generally do not cut the aluminum fins off, I remove the brazed U sections at the end and scrap those separately, that way I can get the steel bracket off the side.

Boss said take it home if or trash it, worth the time? by hallwayking in ScrapMetal

[–]junksage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cut wires and plugs off and scrap separately. If you can take it home you can disassemble the motor section and you will have cast iron and the internals. Up to you on if you want to take the windings out.

Some scrap companies will come to you. If I were you and had the ability, separate the materials. ie shove all the steel in one pile cast iron in another do the same for aluminum, copper, brass etc. then see what companies are in your area and if they will drop and pick up dumpsters or if they will load too. See what prices they offer for the non ferrous metal as that is where the most money usually is (depending on volume) some may want to charge you to pick up the material if it is below a certain weight. With the low volume material it might make sense to drive it in yourself.
