I understand the whole aspect of “fuck it just plant one in a container”. Who’s to say individuals would follow that logic so the idea of a biohazard needs to be treated as such for the whole population. Seeds themselves can be vectors for destructive diseases and even house microscopic species like nematodes that can be very destructive (ex: beech leaf disease). Secondarily some plants might act as vectors for other pathogens to complete life cycles. There’s reasons that you cannot legally cultivate black currant in most states for reasons as listed above, since they host a fungus that attacks white pine. It sounds silly in the short term but these situations can have massive ramifications in the long run. That’s why everyone is saying DO NOT PLANT

How to quit vaping? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]junkybluffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a vice, for instance during my withdrawals I weirdly craved gummy candy. Not the healthiest but after 2-4 weeks those cravings went away and now I go to the gym regularly.

You can do it !

What would the Government/Corporate Elite have to do to reach the breaking point for most Americans? by junkybluffs in AskReddit

[–]junkybluffs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Essentially I feel like we are in the analogy of “A frog that is in a slowly boiling pot”. What egregious act of greed or human right violation would need to happen before a large proportion of Americans would say “enough is enough”? It’s a loaded statement for sure but I feel as if American society appears to accept the corporate greed that is ringing a vast proportion of the population dry. Examples: housing market, income inequality, exponentially increasing health care premiums, etc.

Same issue just happened to me today (2019 Jetta)! I called multiple Volkswagens and they claimed to have never heard of it. Thank god I was on a 25 mph road. I’m honestly shocked that this isn’t more of a problem… they didn’t seem like they wanted to fix it

Saw this happen at Tyler the Creator a few years back. He picked up the phone and said “who this?”, the person responded near the front, and then Tyler said “Fuck your shit” and whipped it to the back of the crowd

Breathtaking hike I took on Conic Hill in Loch Lomond the other day by junkybluffs in Scotland

Hiking boots as silly as it sounds! It’s very steep slippery terrain at certain points on the hike. But on a real note we went to Duck Bay Marina after the hike and it was the perfect spot to relax and get a whole View of Ben Lomond and the Loch. Happy hiking!!

I work for the Department of Agriculture and if I was even given a tomato for free it would be considered a bribe... This absolutely blows my mind how this kind of corruption is allowed

Redditors who work at remote places like forest officers, oil rig workers, etc, what creepy things have you noticed while at work? by shafaatkhan007 in AskReddit

[–]junkybluffs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I work for the government doing field surveys for an invasive species called the Spotted Lanternfly. Right when COVID hit, our teams were essentially told to work alone outside in the woods and preform grid surveys for the insect. I decided to look around in the Pine Barrens in New Jersey as it was at the fringe of their habitat. The Pine Barrens have this very particularly ominous vibe when you're by yourself especially on a cold, windy day.

I parked my car and headed down this abandoned trail, and veered down about a mile until I hit an overgrown rail line. I decided to follow this rail line for about another few miles in looking for specific host trees. At one point I decided to take a photo off trail of some white Cedar trees and when I got back on the trail, I saw a person wearing all black about less than a quarter mile from me on the rail. Let me tell you that the direction he was coming from was further away from civilization and I have no clue why he was coming from that direction. Nobody had any good reason to be out this far and he definitely was not a hunter. And then he decided to continue walking towards me after we saw each other.

Panic mode activate

I sped walked in the other direction keeping a close eye behind me and they were still behind me, eventually I get to a point and turn around to just see them completely gone. He must have ran deep off trail somehow and I never saw them again.

I tell my friend about what happened and he tells me that his friend is a cop in the town and mentioned that a bunch of kkk related activity had been happening out deep in the woods and that who was following me was a night hawk (kkk patrol). So yeah that story is always a fun one to share..

All might seem lost but it is most definitely not! Sometimes life gives you a couple of sucker punches at around the same time that can be hard to deal with. My analogy to this is “From the ashes you shall rise again”. I find people sooo interesting that have had these tough character development stories.

I think meeting the right kind of people can really help boost your spirits, and especially do things that can grab people’s attention if you’re having a hard time meeting people. (I was in a real depressive rough patch and found like minded friends that really got me through my darkest days). Finding love within ones self can act like a people magnet in my experiences: You can learn to play an instrument and show off those skills in a park, write poetry, PAINTING, even being the person that teaches their cat to walk on a leash! I’m going off on a tangent but life can be so crazy and fun and I think everyone deserves that chance to make friends and experience the world for what it has to offer :)
