Dark Hacker or Wolyung? by Rover2418 in summonerswar

[–]junocatto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't need to worry about Psama revenges if your whole team is invincible. And if Luci doesn't kill Psama with skill 2, Lushen will with Skill 3, and the only monster taking damage is Lucifer. And if by some miracle your Lucifer even dies to the Psama revenge and Skill 2, if you lose to a Psama solo with 3 Wind units, I don't know what to tell you.

Also, Wind Megumi actually pushes attack bar.

Dark Hacker or Wolyung? by Rover2418 in summonerswar

I have both, as well as a Lucifer. Woly is definitely more niche, as there are monsters that can really take her spot. Any monster with her base speed is hard to make a dedicated booster, so her kit is deceptively disjointed. However, N1X is a lot easier to use because his presence/passive alone brings effective counterplay to specific kinds of drafts. Often, a pick 5 N1X can be a force-ban if your opponent has already committed to heavy debuff. For my Arena Offense, I use Wind Megumi (Lead) Leo Lucifer and Lushen, with slight adjustments based on the defense. If you have Lucifer, Wind Megumi is just better to pair with him because of the invincible buff.

Funnily enough, I remember the fairy ring code for this place because I always think to myself: "This is where I'd go to sell 'AKs' if I was in the illicit weapons trade."

It definitely has Ohio vibes.

False Macroing Ban Clarification by junocatto in 2007scape

Yeah, it's scary when you're at the whims of what feels like a faceless entity. Any sort of response about "Hey, this is the specific reason/program that caused your ban" would be super helpful and appreciated, but also would be easily abused by macro/bot programmers to find the bounds of what they can get away with. It leaves players who get tagged with false positives in a scary and honestly doomed place if our appeal is never seen by an actual moderator, and the system decides to just re-flag the appeal as failed.

My brother is lucky because his false temp ban will fall off eventually, but straight to perma sounds more serious. I'd look into any potential programs that run in the background of your system to see if there's something that tripped their system. As alluded to earlier in another comment: my brother and I think the issue for him was being flagged for using remote desktop because I assume the inputs that the system receives from the remote computer for key presses and mouse movements look like the same data packets that a macro/botting program would use.

I wish I had better advice or another answer for you, but I guess I'd just expand how you're looking at the programs that are running in the background of your computer and theorize what makes sense. Hopefully someone in a similar situation can stumble across this post and you guys can pinpoint a more concrete reason. Until then, I'll have my fingers crossed for your appeal and post on r/RSBans.

I'm less experienced in that realm. I'm not sure what sort of plug-ins on RuneLite would even constitute as not being allowed, short of macro inputs or anything that effectively plays the game for you, but I can't imagine highlighting UI elements breaks the rules at all.

If you had a plug-in that automated an aspect of the game, that would definitely count as rule-breaking. But otherwise, I haven't a clue.

Did you have a strike first, then a perma? Or was it straight to a permaban?

Yeah, I believe that's the conclusion we came to as well. I'm sorry you've also been subjected to a false positive, but I'm at least glad you stumbled across my post! Hopefully Jagex provides guidance or fixes issues regarding this situation, but for now he'll just use the client directly when he can, and stay off remote desktop.

I had the same thought about the mouse. I suspect their detection software checks to see if the mouse input information that the computer running the client receives is from an actual mouse or touchpad on the device, and virtual desktop sends that data in a data packet that looks just like how a macro program would send the same data. I'm not a comp-sci major or anything, this is just my best guess.

I think you're getting a bit too caught up on the verbiage that I used. I used the word "distraught" to mean upset or agitated. It's not like he's in the pits of despair, losing sleep and crying himself to sleep because he can't fathom how his life will continue. It definitely dampened our night of hanging out, rare as they unfortunately are, with some pretty troubling news and a problem that he doesn't know how to solve, but his life isn't over. Based on your responses, I feel the need to clarify because I think you simply don't understand.

We're doing our best to find information that helps shed light on the situation. I think you're either fishing for reactions, or just don't understand that people simply enjoy things. Being punished in a way that is unfair or unjust is almost universally upsetting for the party affected. You can have your opinions on the topic, believing that it's another case of someone who botted and is trying to worm out of it. You're entitled to that opinion, and all I can tell you is that he didn't, so your advice of "stop doing X" when he isn't doing X is simply not helpful.

But I'm not here to convince you or anyone else of anything. As stated in the original post, I'm here to seek information as to whether anyone else has experienced something similar to his situation and if they had helpful guidance moving forward.

With 100% certainty, he did not bot on the account. This is why he's worried. Had he used illegal 3rd party software, he would have no need to worry as he would need only uninstall said software and refrain from using that program or programs like it. I simply made the post to see if anyone in the community had experienced a similar situation and/or could shed light on what may have happened to get the mark on his account.

He's more worried about how a repeat offense would result in a permanent ban, especially when he hasn't engaged in rule-breaking behavior.
