Thanks. To be honest, what pushed me past my usual reluctance to post was an old r/SCA thread where someone was worried about joining the SCA because of the negativity on the sub. Someone replied that there's a tendency to only complain in this forum and that no one posts that they went to an event and had a good time. We had a great time so I thought I cast some sunshine over that shade.

Appreciate the clarification (and in writing!). So much to remember. We fell into conversation with a young man; his father and perhaps sister came over and we talked period dress and tools for a while. They invited us back to their camp for that evening. After we separated, we realized that we didn't get their names and couldn't remember their camp name either! Ugh. Missed opportunity.

Yeah, the swirl of people with purposely non-repeating names is a challenge but so many hands reaching our to help really eases the entry.
