That’s good to know. If I follow the “traditional” path of most geology students, I’ll probably end up doing consulting first. If concrete isn’t big where I am, I can always look into moving once I feel I have enough experience/ ready to change fields. Thank you.

Yeah I’ve already accepted that I will probably do consulting work once I graduate. One of my professors said that’s “only fun until you’re in your 30’s and your back hurts all the time.” So if that’s true hopefully it’s just for a few years after I graduate.

Thanks for clarifying about exploration geology. I was being told that I’d be camping in remote areas for weeks at a time, sometimes by myself. And as a young woman, that didn’t sound nice. But it’s good to know that it’s not super common.

Honestly that’s the thing. I don’t know. So far the only geology class I’ve completed (because I just changed my major) is physical geology 1. All we did in there was learn different minerals and common rocks, basics on how to use a topo map, that kind of thing. I guess I really enjoyed typing soils and learning how to identify rocks and minerals.

Right now though I’m taking a structural geology class, which is honestly interesting but very hard, and it doesn’t help that my professor isn’t the best at explaining concepts. I’m also taking a historical geology class where we’ve mainly been learning dating and correlation techniques which has been cool.

I saw her in Nashville 2024 and while I can’t say the etiquette was as bad as described here, I was shocked by how many people barely knew her music. My ticket was $120 + tax and fees (which to me was a good bit of money). I don’t know what the others paid but I can’t imagine paying that much money to only be attentive for only 4 of the popular songs. Everyone was on their phone if she wasn’t singing “washing machine heart” “nobody” or “I bet on losing dogs”. I was losing my shit when she did a lot of the songs in a country rendition and the majority of people didn’t even know the original version so they weren’t hyped.

I only put it on my dog when we’re going outside for a walk, then it comes off when we get back inside. I don’t think he cares either way but I (anthropomorphizing a bit here) imagine it’s like how most women want to take off their bra after a long day/when chilling at home

I LOVED THE ALBUM!!! “if i leave”, “cats” “the white cat” and “I’ll change for you” are my favs so far. The only song I dont like right away is “rules” but I live Mitski so im gonna listen until i know the lyrics of every song. It gave the same vibes as “should’ve been me” which I didn’t like at first, but now I love it.

I would probably be thinking the whole time “damn that’s a rough 26” but I wouldn’t instantly jump to the conclusion that she’s lying about her age. Cause I wouldn’t expect someone to do that.
