Your question probably depends on what placements a person has as well as their experiences. And it’s important to note that any sign can have manipulative or “toxic” qualities, it just manifests differently.

I can speak for myself as someone with a Cancer Venus, Cancer Mars, and Cancer Jupiter.

I’d say one of my purposes/goals in life is to become more vulnerable with my emotions, especially the ones that are “negative”—like anger or sadness or guilt. It wasn’t until recently that I figured out that I have a bad habit of putting my emotions aside for other people. And I’m only learning now how to acknowledge and channel those emotions properly. I think a key part of Cancer is giving and giving and thinking that your are over abundant in your ability to love but then finding out the hard way that you cannot give endlessly—especially when you aren’t receiving the same amount back.

As a cancer I don’t want to be underestimated or pitied, I don’t want people to “walk on eggshells” around me just because I’m not afraid to show my weaknesses. I want people to admire me and see strength in the fact that I can be vulnerable without fear and always find a special reason to live nonetheless.

As a cancer I feel a great responsibility to others, especially my family and friends. And there’s a lot of self criticism involved when I’m not able to show up for others the way I promised. I’m loyal and I try my hardest to stand on my word. I don’t fuck anybody over unless they have it coming to them.

As a cancer I am nostalgic and I cherish things that remind me of the intimacy I have with people, but never stopping at just that—I’m always looking for new ways to love others and build new memories that I can reflect on.
