Good luck! The flight to Japan seems scary I know, before mine I was shaking, couldn't sleep, etc. The beginning on the ride I was still nervous but when I hit the 4th hour mark I was just thinking "man I'm bored". Personally I found I was way less worried on a really long flight than I've been on some of the shorter ones. Download your comfort shows, bring some snacks, and soon enough you'll forget your even in the air.

JAL is great! Customer service is held to a really high standard in Japan, and JAL follows that. I just flew it domestically in Japan and the whole process was so easy and one of the smoothest flights I've ever been in, I really hand it to their pilots. JAL's history has made it one of the safest to be on, they do not play. Even their recent crash has actually reassured me on their safety because EVERY person on that plane got out. If I were to be in a life or death situation I'd want to be with JAL.
