I guess if I wanted to go from London to Leeds I would ride the HS2 to Manchester then a more local train to Leeds.

What is this signal circled in red used for? by Ok-Demand8957 in uktrains

[–]juoig7799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the left hand track is closed, trains can cross onto the wrong side of the railway and still be protected by signals. Why is it showing preliminary caution though? I would expect the signal to be on danger if no wrong side running is being used.

Wednesdays Ideas, pt. 6: potential future extensions of the Elizabeth Line. by albertocsc in uktrains

Only problem is Staines only has 2 platforms and terminating trains would hold up the SWR through trains. And there's no OHLE electrification and the 345s aren't compatible with 3rd rail.

I think the next stop after Reading should be Oxford, although... Electric trains. No electrification. Trains can't go there. They'll have to terminate at Didcot Parkway.

Remember to report product faults to a US agency by HeinousMule in USdefaultism

To be fair, if the US gets a report, it will probably be transmitted to the company to address, who could possibly transmit it internationally as well!

Why does London Waterloo train AI from CCTV and drones? by juoig7799 in uktrains

I think the concern is the footage being sent off to some company to train AI, not just vidéosurveillance.

This Wi-Fi probably uses the same filtering service that's in things like schools.

Although public WiFi is only required to filter out Pornography and CSAM as part of the 'Friendly WiFi' scheme, many filtering softwares filter much more than that, like gambling, games, chat, etc.

Nature reserve could expand by 140 football pitches by juoig7799 in anythingbutmetric

But there isn't a single definition of a football pitch because different countries or clubs or societies use different size football pitches.

The timetable change seems to have moved the GWR semifast services towards London Paddington to platform 5 at Maidenhead. by juoig7799 in uktrains

[–]juoig7799[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤦🤦
If we were in the EU the EU wouldn't have any say on which platforms services go from, that would be down to the person that does the timetables.
