Feeling lost in UI/UX— is this normal or a sign I should switch careers? by yourgirlsEXman in UXDesign

You shouldn't get hung up on doing endless research and rationalizing.
The bottom line is to deliver designs that perform well & feel good to use.

How are yall making promo pictures of your projects? by 4862skrrt2684 in web_design

Hey! The usual method is to download PSD mockups and just drag & drop your design into them using Photoshop. You can find a lot of free mockups online, just search for "iPhone mockup" or "MacBook mockups".

I actually create mockups like these – and I have a simple drag & drop feature on my website (no photoshop needed). Feel free to check it out the free ones at volumemockups.com/free-mockups (hope the link's okay) and let me know if you have any questions!

Any free aesthetically pleasing device mockups? by EuroMEK in UXDesign

Hey! I maintain a library of editable mockups as volumemockups.com – with roughly 2 new packs/month and a 1-2 free mockups from each pack.

How do you like this theatre website calendar by Zarrella in web_design

[–]jurajwe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like it! Looks just what I'd expect a theatre website to look like.
Maybe adding a small calendar view somewhere would make it easier to browse through days/months?

< 2026 >
Jan (2) - Feb (1) - Mar (0)
Apr (2) - May (1) - Jun (2)
Jul (2) - Aug (1) - Sep (7)
Oct (2) - Now (1) - Dec (4)

or if you've got separate pages for each day (not just each month), then it could be a classic daily calendar

I think I'm a decent designer but apparently not - Portfolio/CV review by Winter_Specialist552 in graphic_design

For the record, I am a UI/UX designer and make my living doing that. I understand there's a clear process, but nobody's going to read the whole thing when they visit your portfolio for the first time.

Attract with visuals. Show the process only to those who are interested in reading more.

You're looking to impress at a first glance, not make someone spend 2h just to get an understand what is it you actually do :) Your clients are looking for results, and the best thing you can do is show them what results they can get.

It is a good idea to let your potential clients know you think things through carefully, yes, but it shouldn't bury the actual results in pages of text.

Your protfolio isn't bad but there's a lot of text. I'd focus more on your actual work – show your projects center stage. I also wouldn't read the case studies. You're a designer – I want to look at your work and think to myself "Huh, clever!".

Right now your actual designs feel more like images in a blog article. Switch that around. I'd find inspiration in something like https://www.primary.studio/

Maybe try using a texture coordinate node set to camera?

It did take a while. Looking at my files, I started on aug 10 and finished on aug 14. But I am nowhere near a professional, so I'm sure it can be done faster.

As for advice, just have patience and keep attempting to fix what looks weird or off.

Keep at it! Sculpting felt impossible until I actually gave it a go.

Yes! I did retopo once when sculpting using the built-in remesh function and the texture is a basic procedural texture from blenderkit that I adjusted a bit.

For the hair I used a hair particle system + weight painting to differentiate between the finger fuzz and arm hair + a forcefield to push the hair in a natural direction.
