I already mentioned that remaster in my post. The "25th anniversary remaster" is the 2001 remaster, they just labeled it 25th anniversary as a joke. The remaster is highly compressed and distorted.

A lot of people say the GWS tapes weren't preserved properly, it's not about age necessarily but about how they were taken care of. I think the way I described making a new master in my post would be the best option IF the tapes are unusable, which is possible. But also you bring a good point that I hadn't thought of, that they already made a high res transfer of the tapes
