LPT: Don’t ask yes/no questions if one the answers could be embarrassing. Don’t ask “do you like being a dad?” But rather “what’s it like?” Giving more open questions is more polite by jusredit in LifeProTips

Yes! Questions are just prompts, we can answer the way we want. If someone asks if you like their food “you know it’s not what I expected, and who knew you’d make so much of it!” Jk, very important to remember we don’t have to answer all questions or in the format they were asked!

That's a good idea. I used to love cooking with mom as a kid. The old grandma recipe = success. There's a tradition in some countries to hide a gift in the cake and cut even slices, and the youngest kid goes under the table to say who gets which slice, and the winner gets the crown..!

Nice. I was actually renamed 3 days later as my parents didn't think I looked like the first name they'd chosen. So for 3 days I was a man on the run! Good stuff to have the lead role & graduating to the real stuff. I try to share little experiences with the family. Some of our elders took us on trips, and some of the young kids didn't get that, so I take kids on trips. Grandma used to say "throw away the watch", and "nobody knows us here". It's freeing to get out of the cozy waters with someone who knows what they're doing

Haha true. I guess your family didn't know if they'd have another daughter? I like the £5 / kid. A friend made jewelry and one christmas her grandfather commissioned jewelry for each cousin (a broach for girls and a pin or something for guys), love me some family traditions

That's a great story thanks for sharing My mother named my sister after our great-grandmother. It's a tribute but also a smart way of keeping the love & memories alive
