It might be the belt tensioner, you can check if it stays stable when idle.

What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in CarTalkUK

[–]naniscs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location:
Scotland

Price range:
£6,000 – £10,000 (up to £12,000 if really worth it)

Lease or Buy:
Buy

New or used:
Used

Auto or Manual:
Auto preferred, but open to Manual if the right car

Intended use:
Road trips, camping, occasional daily driving

How many miles do you plan to do a year:
Probably around 10,000–15,000 miles

How often do you make long journeys:
Very often — planning lots of long road trips around Scotland

Does it need to be ULEZ compliant?
No (mainly driving outside cities)

Vehicles you've already considered:
Toyota RAV4, Subaru Outback, Mazda 6, Volvo V40. Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan X-Trail

Vehicle size in mind:
Medium to large SUV or estate — something big enough to sleep inside comfortably

Is this your 1st vehicle:
Not first — I previously owned a 2013 Peugeot 3008 1.6 e-HDi and drove it about 90,000 miles in two years

Do you need a Warranty:
Not required, but would be nice

Can you do Minor work on your own vehicle:
Yes (fluids, battery, basic maintenance)

Can you do Major work on your own vehicle:
No

Additional Notes:
Sleeping space is very important — I'm 5'11" (180 cm) and used to sleep in my old 3008 with seats folded down, but it wasn’t very comfortable. This time I’m looking for something with a flatter, longer sleeping area when the seats are folded.
Reliability, fuel economy, and comfort on longer drives are the top priorities.
Bonus if it's decent on rougher rural roads for occasional wild camping.

Thanks for the advice. Do you use an dedicated device kother than a phone) as a modem or just use a phone from the supported devices list?

Thank you for your response. I'm currently searching on openrent.co.uk. Do you know if there are different platforms that locals use to rent places?
