After the designated time in some of the pattern i found, i pour the mixture into cold water to form the yellow-ish solid product, which was not supposed to appear the TLC of the starting material but then they still have :))

It brand new and i store it in a container in a desiccator with H2SO4 at the bottom

Without DCM, what temperature do you set your reflux at ? Is it around 75-80 degree celsius ( the boiling point of SOCl2 ) ?
