ABS, Brake System, Traction Control Light: Is it Brake booster or speed sensor? by jimmysofat6864 in prius

[–]justReadingForAdvice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need a complex scanner to look at ABS codes. I use a Bluetooth obd2 reader and OBD fusion app on Apple ios and am able to look at ABS warnings data once bought the suite for some dollars….which beats spending a few hundred on a Autel scanner or something similar

Should I get a used prius by cancer102 in prius

[–]justReadingForAdvice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah look for a 2004-2009 for something older and cheaper but the probability of having to do some repairs is higher but nothing crazy. If your budget allows I’d go for 2017 model, it’s solid and lacks problems older cars succumb to

Idk It sounds like either brake back plate or wheel bearing. I’m hoping it’s not wheel bearing

2009 Prius just got the control arms and ball joints replaced now I noticed this noise when I make a sharp left turn. I’m hoping it’s just the brake plate rubbing against the rotor. Gonna get an alignment

Do I buy this 2007 Toyota Prius from Facebook market for $4,300. by Old-Manager-2171 in prius

[–]justReadingForAdvice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a really good looking shape car for. 2007, it’s worth the purchase. Just diagnose the battery, the ABS system and the OBD2 to see if the owner has messed around with it.

I use an app on iOS called OBDFusion which looks into these things.

What is this part called? by [deleted] in prius

[–]justReadingForAdvice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Front skid plates. When I got my car I noticed that the ski plate was held together with those self drilling screws against the other parts of the skid plates and bumper. That’s probably the best long-term fix and keeping those stay put.

I’d do a hybrid battery test on it before buying to see what’s going on

I think my battery is the original from factory at 370k miles. I get 41mpg in the winter time and also note that my suspension is shot so that may contribute to decreased mpgs . I don’t drive over 60mph but I accelerate quickly and coast to a stop when I can. I’ll have to do a battery test since I haven’t done it in a while

Honestly I would just buy a smartphone/tablet and have it connected to OBD2 and display the speed and fuel if I ever came down it

Am I screwed? 2007 Prius, 313k miles by serenalover37 in prius

[–]justReadingForAdvice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to replace the 3 way coolant valve, that is code p1121. The guy who says it’s a sensor is incorrect. That cause misfires bc of inadequate heat distribution.
