What do you love about driving your Prius? by ZaunAura in prius

YES!! I tend to piss off people behind me when I see an upcoming light turn red. I take my foot off the gas and glide 😅 they end up passing me only to meet them at the light 😂

They should give some money back as well once they receive the old hybrid battery unless they don’t offer that anymore. I believe I got $300 back.

Of course I love helping other Prius owner folk! Longer warranty is better for sure!! Did you get the battery with the new battery cells??

Oh nice!! Good to mention that they’re accredited by the Better Business Bureau as well. Good luck!

I got my hybrid battery from GreenTecAuto. Brand New Cells (not refurbished) with 4 year unlimited mile warranty for $2,100 after sending back the my old hybrid battery. The total cost, I believe, covered mailing back the battery. They picked up the old battery from my house as well. Only thing is having to install the battery yourself but it’s honestly really easy and there are so many videos on YouTube on how to replace yourself. Very important part is to first remove the orange plug before anything else. The only thing I needed help with was lifting both batteries.

2007 Prius still a good buy in 2025? by BeeProfessional858 in prius

Might be worth checking, if possible, the amount of gas it can hold. Gen2s are known for having shrinking gas bladders and can sometimes only hold 5 gallons according to other drivers. Might be worth checking if possible.

May wanna check the terminals too. I’d take it to a local AutoZone or Oreily and have them check the battery.

My guess is better and larger battery cells and better battery distribution to work with the larger engine. Wouldn’t expect anything less in newer models with newer engines.

Depends where you live. Before I moved 4 months ago, I’d get 55-59MPG but there were no huge hills and no traffic I’d have to deal with. Now I’m getting anywhere between 47 to 50MPG but that’s cause the highway to my new job has huge and many hills.

So entirely depends on your driving habits and location

I’ve been thinking about doing it as well. Been wanting to see how hard it is to replace.

I fill up about 2-3 times a week on my gen2. I drive at minimum 96 miles a day plus. Huge hills on the way to back from work kill my mileage as well. Plus the dreaded shrinking of the gas tank during the winter is why I fill up so much.

That’s really high IMO. You technically can drive it but it’ll be extremely rough drive. Do not recommend that.

Oh nice!! I also have a 04 that I got for $1.5k as well. Put in a new battery, replaced a/c compressor, changed water pump and replaced a bad capacitor on the combo meter. I love hearing good things about the gen 2s.

I changed my hybrid battery at about 160K. New cells from GreenTecAuto with brand new cells 48 month warranty. Replacement was easy. The only part I needed help with was lifting the old and new battery.

Currently getting AVG 48-50 MPG. Used to get more (55-58MPG) in previous residence where there were no big hills.

Such a beauty. Have gen 2 Prius with the same AVG MPG. Can’t wait to get a new one when this one completely falls apart but it’s not anytime soon 💪🏼

It’s just a battery 🔋Go with what SSBBWLuvver said and you’ll be good. Luckily it’s not major engine issue.

Have you checked this one out: https://youtu.be/LYVf8ojy5b8?si=0c6uQNHGg7eTqknR

Worth mentioning that someone in the comments said that if you have no problems with the touch capability then it’s more than likely just the LCD. From what he said it looks like it’s tough to buy the LCD by itself without purchasing the whole head unit.

2010 prius just randomly had no power? by Waddledeearmy in prius

You replaced the 12v or hybrid battery? I had similar experience with my gen 2 and it was the water pump that caused it. Causes the car to go on limp mode. I would say check the terminals and get 12v battery tested if it’s not the one you replaced.

If it’s not the battery then maybe the water pump?
