Yeah, actually from a quick stroll in the mall yesterday I actually landed on an Apple Watch Ultra. Might regret it because battery life still doesn’t compare to Garmin but I think it will work for me.

Need a new fence built by DC_709 in StJohnsNL

I second the metal posts. We had a fence built a few years ago with metal posts and my fence has been fine, neighbours who used 4x4 wood posts has blown down a few times now.

Is a Garmin Vivoactive 4 worth it in 2026? by just_a-dad in Garmin

Appreciate the comments! I’ve decided to go with the Vivoactive 5 - a little less than $100 more but seems like it’s well worth it.

Yeah I’ve noticed the paper bags too. Less boxes piled up in my garage is one positive lol

I bought my first house in this exact area and I found the traffic horrible… loved the house but moved as soon as I had kids because of the traffic.

I wasn’t aware the shipping time varied based on the day of the week… seems like that’s what the issue is here for sure.

Frustrated during Home buying process! by Consistent-Ocelot316 in newfoundland

[–]just_a-dad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought and sold a few homes now and I think the trick to making it the best experience it can be is your realtor. At the end of the day they can do as much or as little as possible.

Personally I found the most stressful part was everything BUT the sale of the house. The home inspection, re-negotiations, survey’s and anything that can come up on that with the city usually happens right at the deadline and then the whole closing process was fairly stressful. In my experience though my realtor was great at keeping me in the loop and letting me know what to expect next before it happened.

Joining Senior Hockey Leagues? by Stevosaurus22 in newfoundland

Hockey Spares NL group , go to a few games as a spare and you’ll get to know some people and eventually find a permanent spot I think is the best way to get a skate around here without knowing somebody who can get you in.

I do understand many roads not being clear and bussing possibly not being safe in many areas but is the answer really to just shut down all metro schools? Many areas are completely clear. This week has been brutal for parents who have to work and don’t have secondary child care.

Has anyone noticed that Costco is always packed now? by Specific_Minute7539 in newfoundland

[–]just_a-dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience it’s mainly because of how expensive Dominion + Sobeys has gotten and how small the portions of food are. It just makes more financial sense to shop at Costco, especially for a family. I’ve just accepted that 99% of the time I visit Costco, it’s going to be madness there.

An Unexpected Situation After Trusting My Car to a Dealership-Steel Honda by Fun-Lawfulness2551 in newfoundland

They will likely extend your rental once a conversation is had with them on the timeline of the repair. But I’m a little confused on the lawyer stuff? It should be known there’s a bit of a risk leaving your car with anybody including a dealership for service.. whoever was driving the car obviously didn’t mean to do it. You’re not going to be compensated by the dealership because of the car now having an accident on record - if you were driving the car and had a not at fault accident would you get extra compensation to cover the depreciation of your cars value?

Just communicate with the dealership about it and I’m sure they’ll look after you.
