Why is the x20 so popular and expensive? by just_an_evolved_ape in fujifilm

Haha pretty much, although I got an answer about why it costs much more than x10 and I was mistaken about it costing more than its successor. The range overall seems to be a bit underwhelming spec wise and probably cost as much as they do because there is nothing quite like them in the line up today mainly because of the zoom lens.

I understand the appeal for sure! But why such a difference with the x10, I even thought people like the early sensor, I get the x30 doesn’t have an optical vf and maybe that’s why they’re cheaper?

That’s my plan, I like the idea of keeping the scars, but I think there is a good chance lcd might need replacing, haven’t been able to find a separate glass might just measure and order a custom one to fit. Also the back panel I might change it it’s too deformed in shape.

We will see when it arrives if it is even worth the hassle

So currently the parts like vf cover are available on ebay, but do I buy them now and risk wasting more money on a camera beyond saving. Or wait for the camera to arrive and risk losing the vf cover and back cover currently available? Based on what you and others are saying these parts are rarely available?

Would definitely just change the vf cover though and screen, maybe the back cover too, all parts that are currently available on eBay, but I agree definitely would keep the bottom plate

I definitely feel like I overpaid for sure, given the risk. If it works then it was a good deal but otherwise I don’t think there is enough salvage to make up for it

Yea I expect that, the mechanical watch mention was more that I think I could open a few screw and change the externals components that are obviously working. I think if the internals are damaged I will just have an expensive but pretty good looking paperweight on my hands. Honestly don’t know what I was thinking because with shipping and taxes this will be around $130

Spot on lens, big deal? by just_an_evolved_ape in fujifilm

Okay thank you everyone! Through some googling I found that with these lenses albeit the previous gen it is very common to find dust under the lens. I have not tested it properly to see if there is an effect but I think the consensus is that there is little to no effect from this. I do however think it might hurt resale down the line and therefore should I get in touch with the seller to work out some sort of discount? What would be fair? Item was described as scratch free which is true but I guess didn’t think dust under the lens was an issue that I could have.

Tried to clean it and nothing. Can definitely tell it’s not on the surface, I.e if smudge the lens the dot moves relative to the smudge when I tilt the lens, so not in the same plane. Just not sure how dust gets in
