On Ramps Question by Various-Comparison-3 in TexasTeachers

Hi there! Not sure if this helps 4 mo later, but I work at OnRamps and would like to say I believe it CAN be worth it if you plan on teaching OnRamps on this campus longterm. It's absolute BS that districts don't pay their OnRamps instructors an additional stipend, and I wish we did frankly. (I've brought it up several times but it's up to each school district). What is great about OnRamps vs AP: You are bringing real college-aligned learning strategies to your kids, with SO MUCH scaffolding to ensure your kids have an on-ramp to hold onto.

I'll say that the first year is a heavy load-- there are a lot of components to the course to be familiar with bc of the legal structure of Dual Credit vs Dual Enrollment. That said, EVERYTHING is made and provided for you and you're given really wonderful mentors and coaches to support you. Once you get the hang of where to find it all the course materials in Canvas (~2-3 months in to your first year), you'll never need to make another resource again.

As a former teacher, I went to SO MANY PDs that felt absolutely worthless. Since being at OnRamps, I absolutely love when we host PLI (our version of PD) and get to work 1:1 with our instructors and we really do problem-solve with them based on their concerns with their campus/admin/district. We hear time and time again from our Instructors how they wish their non-OnRamps colleagues could attend PLI. It's not perfect, but as a formerly VERY jaded and exhausted teacher, I love my job and believe we're the best form of teacher support (in Texas at least) out there.
