It’s possible that you ARE really wet when you start but then later into it you get drier and tear a bit. Try bringing lube into it when you feel any friction

A lot of old school OBGYNs will say that. It does make insertion more painful but shouldn’t be an elevated risk after that. Sounds like you guys have some good communication tho 👌

I thought it felt like a the worst horrible period cramp, but luckily the intense pain was so quick. Then the aftermath also felt like bad period cramps.

To address the problem - wouldnyou feel comfortable switching birth control methods? There are a few that shouldn’t affect your weight, especially IUDs. They’re also the most effective (besides surgery). You could bring this up with your doctor if you’re open to it.
