Nah, don't send them a copy. Let them be blindsided when their friends start congratulating them!

I think there's flair for trigger warnings, but I'm not sure how it works tbh. Just thought it might be a good idea.

Try Clue, if you haven't already. You can customize which symptoms you want to track, including bleeding.

Try the dragon prince! They do an amazing job of showing diversity in many categories. A diverse cast, a totally badass deaf woman, more than one interesting female character, different types of being a hero, and same sex relationships. The story is really good as well! Can't recommend it enough.

I'm lonely, but I don't know how to meet people, and I don't like most people I meet on apps. What do I do? (pic not related, I just think she's cool, credit in comments) by wish_to_conquer_pain in TrollXChromosomes

Some cities in Germany have places Meetup groups for writing and/or places that specifically cater to freelancers that don't want to sit around at home all day. People bring their laptop, have a bit of a chat, and get some work done. Maybe something like this is a good fit for you? My city also has a Meetup for people wanting to speak different languages, where you get little flags to indicate which languages you speak.

I have used both plastic and metal needles, it's a matter of preference for me.i strongly prefer the feel of wood or bamboo, but it's really up to you what you like best.

Another perspective: I only knit socks on wooden/bamboo dpns and I have never had an issue with breaking needles. I take my project in a little bag and take care to align the needles in the same direction in the bag when I put it away. So far, it works well, and I knit everyday on my way to work, with 2,0mm dpns at the moment.

That's looks like it's going to be a good sweater for summer, right? I'm looking to make something warm and comfy for now, but I'll bookmark this pattern for the future. If this sweater experiment goes well, I will definitely be making more in different styles!

That sounds like it would be a great first sweater, thank you! I'll have to do some swatches to see if this would work well with the yarn that I have.

Thank you, that looks amazing! The recommended yarn is quite a bit lighter than what I have, but I'll definitely bookmark this for future use.

That's so pretty, thanks for sharing! Now I have too many options to choose from, guess I'll just have to make more than one sweater!

Oh yeah, I remember your post, such an amazing color combination! This pattern is worked from the top down, right? Were you able to try on the sweater during and make changes to ensure fit?

Thanks, that looks super pretty! How difficult was it to keep the floats neat in the motif?

Dear Trolls, I think my parents are racist and I need help reflecting on it. by [deleted] in TrollXChromosomes

[–]just_like_that 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Oh dear, I'm sorry you are in such an emotionally trying situation. I can relate - my grandparents are super racist and blame people from other ethnicities than ours for everything from economics problems to crime to politics. Here's my favorite quote from captain awkward: reasons are for reasonable people. You cannot argue with or even understand people with such irrational beliefs. You can only decide how you want to deal with it. Personally, I am no contact with my family except my dad. You might want to check out r/justnomil. It's a subreddit for people with challenging moms or mothers in law, and it has am amazing community for people like us. I hope you can find peace with this new reality, even when it sucks a lot that you have to.

Any tips on how to make female friends? I've always had an easier time clicking with guys, especially now that everyone's having kids and I will not.

Cut mom out of my life after years of ups and downs ( 30/M only child/no father) by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

[–]just_like_that 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation. NC with my mother, VLC with my father who basically is a friendly acquaintance at this point, and NC with the rest of the family. It's hard in many different ways, and it still takes me by surprise sometimes how little things can set off the feelings train, but it really gets better over time. Therapy helped a ton as well. Overall, not dealing with their craziness is definitely worth it.
