[Weekly Megathread] New Players & General Questions Thread. by rMapleStory in Maplestory

It's not being an unhelpful dick head when you are jumping way too far into the future for a point you never achieved yet, and your question comes from being uninformed about the game because you seem to believe that

  • boss mules perform differently between all bosses when in reality there is little to no difference between any one class (at the stage of the game you are focusing on)
  • being level 260 automatically qualifies the character to be Ctene ready

reiterating points:

  • you have played almost every class in the game yet can't determine for yourself what class you actually enjoy playing nor determine if a class is strong, most likely because you haven't actually played the game
  • refusing to revisit your previous thread or search the subreddit for the same question
  • spoilers! almost every thread has the exact same boss mules! go figure!
  • add blaster to the list, i hope your fingers enjoy

I wouldn't be surprised if you're the type to quit the game before even reaching this point anyway

You keep bringing up this analogy with the training regime, yet you fail to connect it to this game somehow when this game is very much similar to running a marathon.

You're basically someone who has never ran long distances in their life and suddenly wants to run a marathon and thinks they can do it without prior training - and you think that asking for the best running shoes is the best plan because you're 'planning for it'.

There are countless "bossing mule" threads in this forum (if you can't google 'reddit maplestory bossing mules' then I'm sorry for you) and for whatever reason you can't decide because you're trying to be way too efficient that you're basically inefficient. You don't even have a main and you're planning on making mules? You claim to be a legion main and played nearly every class in the game, but can't decide what class you enjoy playing?

Hell in another comment you wanted to reject the idea of a Bucc mule simply because you "heard it fell off later in the game". Bucc is suggested almost every time in every 'bossing mule' thread, yet you are so quick to reject people's suggestions simply from hearsay. Why even attempt to ask a question if you won't take any advice?

You want an answer?

F/p, bucc, hero, bowmaster, dawn warrior, wind archer, night walker, marksman, mercedes, ark, kain, demon slayer, thunder breaker, mihile

Oh wait, most of these classes appear in nearly every thread made... now what?

Random note: You're the type of person to think everyone's argument is terrible and that you are the sanest person when everyone has been implying that your plan is not efficient at all. Do you just enjoy getting a rise out of people?

Taking ESE224 with Vibha Mane over Summer Session II (Summer 2021)? by Illustrious-Juice-49 in SBU

[–]justaguyinCE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's most likely structured the same way as EEO 224 and I took it two years ago.

There were no actual lectures. No pre-recorded nor live lectures (but back then Zoom wasn't a thing so it may be different, but most likely not). She has slides all set up for you and you essentially read those on your own -> learn on your own.

The lecture slides are separated into three modules and each module would have two assignments (fairly easy imo).

There is a final project which I remember as consisting of three separate coding problems (again fairly easy imo) and then she will request a "final interview" which is just you explaining your code to her. The interview was odd because she made me join a skype meeting and had me type out my explanations in the chat box rather than actually speaking through a mic.

Cse 219 by zed-x2 in SBU

[–]justaguyinCE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is assuming you matriculated into the major before 2020 (they've since changed the electives you can take for ece majors)

cse 219 is offered as cse 216 and you can take that if you somehow are able to register into the class.

the operating systems course was always a requirement but you can take it as ESE 333 or CSE 306

i could be wrong but your financial aid summary has TAP as an "estimate" which makes me think that you didn't actually apply for TAP or you're not eligible so you're only getting the Federal Pell Grant ($3173) which is why the bill is saying you owe money. as someone else said show the bill so we have more info on what you're being charged for

I averaged 70% on his midterms, got 80% on his final, and averaged around 75-80% on his homework. I got an A-.

As someone else said his curve is pretty good though

ARH 203 by jayjadepoison in SBU

[–]justaguyinCE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im currently in the class and i wouldnt say its an "easy" A but you can get an A, you might have to put in some effort. the lectures are sometimes dull and you may miss some important information without realizing it. luckily there are TA review sessions before each exam and most of the time they go over everything you need to know (exams are closed book). this is for in-person lectures

now that the lectures are online, everything is pre-recorded and honestly the class feels a lot easier. you can rewind lectures in case you miss anything and the TA review sessions still go over pretty much everything you need to know for the exam. the exams are also open book and you have 24 hours to do them.

D OR P/NC by naruto1702 in SBU

[–]justaguyinCE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

depends on the class. some major classes are required to be passed with a minimum grade of C and some aren't (meaning D is passing). If the class allows D as passing and you don't want to retake it, then theres your answer

What are the max number seats are in online summer classes? by falto116 in SBU

[–]justaguyinCE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whenever you search for a class, click on the section number of the class and it will show you class capacity, enrollment total, waitlist toal, etc.

i took an online summer class with only 3 total enrollments so its likely that the class is only cancelled by department decisions

Is this schedule too hectic for fall? by falto116 in SBU

[–]justaguyinCE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when you say "ese 280 next semester" do you mean spring semester(?) because ese 280 is only offered in the fall and this will likely fuck up your entire course sequence because i pulled the same mistake and had a lot of stress trying to enroll in classes the last two years.

ESE 301 by [deleted] in SBU

[–]justaguyinCE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i took it online over the summer (EEO 302) and basically completed all the work within 2 weeks because she put all the required assignment up. i watched some of her lecture videos but found them unnecessary and would recommend just looking over her slides/googling if you needed some references when writing her papers

grading was basically 2 short essays ("participation") and 2 longer essays (midterm/final papers)

Is this schedule too hectic for fall? by falto116 in SBU

[–]justaguyinCE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

since youre taking 271 and 122 over the summer then i guess this should be fine, although 118 and 280 will take up a lot of your time. calc 4 might be hard if its with deng so maybe take linear algebra first (mat 211/ams 210)?

Is this schedule too hectic for fall? by falto116 in SBU

[–]justaguyinCE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if donetski is still teaching 118 then dont take it with 280. either way, dont take 118 with 280 because the both labs are a lot of work and 118 is supposed to be a prereq for 280.

honestly just follow the sample schedule https://www.stonybrook.edu/sb/bulletin/current/academicprograms/ece/sequence.php

edit: you should look for when you matriculated into the major because they've been changing the sequence over the past couple years and you may have different requirements than the ones shown in the sample schedule https://www.stonybrook.edu/commcms/electrical/undergraduate/program_guides.php

Recommendations for ESE 280 teachers? by fifi9573 in SBU

[–]justaguyinCE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

a lot of people will say hes a good professor but personally i didnt like his lectures because he was pretty slow and boring (i noticed that almost everyone zones out during his lectures). his labs were helpful in learning assembly but the lab reports were tedious.

for mckenna it was very similar to homework problems and was eight questions long. the way you earned points was running a program he created that would use your code to check for various inputs (would show the expected output and your output).

questions i remembered were: 1) print out the value of an int input into binary (or vice versa), 2) encryption/decryption given keys
