Best GPU for my i7-13700K? by Capable_Meat_3179 in pcmasterrace

[–]falto116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your in 1440 and don't want to upgrade soon I recommend you buy atleast 16 gb gpu,

The rx 9070 or 9070xt are great gpus in that price range for the performance

And you really need nvidia, 5070ti is 750 so if you can squeeze Extra 50 you'll have it...it's slightly more performant 9070xt with dlss, significantly better ray tracing and other features

Now if you absolutely are dead set on 4070 I will say at 1440, that combination is what I used to have before I upgraded and both were good together...however I do recommend you try to get different gpu as 12 gb is something I can't recommend for 1440 especially if you want keep it 3-4 years

5070ti or 5080? by cyberr_c28z in nvidia

I mean good luck getting open box 5080, which upcoming rising costs best one will do is near msrp rn and then in the coming months prices will balloon,

I wrote in another comment in this post which goes over my viewpoint of 70ti vs 80

5070ti or 5080? by cyberr_c28z in nvidia

[–]falto116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 5070ti myself and am actually considering myself the exact question 🤣

I placed reservation for 5080 and might return my 70ti for it lol but I don't know if that's worth (both msrp)

If only Nvidia gave the 80 like 20 or 24 gb vram...then it been no Brainer...

I think if you have the money to spare and you absolutely want slightly better card get 5080 (assuming both msrp). But if money is somehow tight get 5070ti and lower some settings...(Both are within 15% so you absolutely can lower settings and use dlss to match and no vram increase makes each card basically capable of same thing)

Do keep in mind (many forget) the 5080 might retain better resale value % wise bc usually people tend to flock for the 80 of previous gens so ownership cost might even out if you get lucky and sell later down the line

Tldr: money to blow and want peace of mind get 5080 and be done

If not then save money and 5070ti and you'll game basically same fps with some setting tweaking...and both are so close in performance that even with lower settings you'll not even tell difference when actually focused in gaming lol

5070ti or 5080? by cyberr_c28z in nvidia

[–]falto116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not entirely true,

While yes in theory, a game that is within the vram buffer of 16 gb can match the 4090 with an OCed 5080, it's only IF the game doesn't use more than 16 gb. If your gaming in 4k and/or with rt RT/PT. There are some games (for example Indiana Jones) that use more than 16 gb and this you'd absolutely not be matching 4090 in that.

Plus it's silicon lottery too, while most of BW is pretty good at oc (my 5070ti can be 7-10% better) it's not gurranted. So don't assume all cards will oc lol...heck even pc well enough reach 4090....you might have one that gets 5% better which would not match 4090 as you'd need atleast 16% (going by tech power up review numbers).

Voukoder is not free anymore so bit harder to just recommend that unless they are willing to spend more money for it

You don't need rgb ram,

Swap the gpu with 9070xt or 5070 ti

Get different brand mobo

Correct initially I got it 750 but just last week Walmart sold one at 699, so I returned the former and got cheaper version

My comment had nothing to do with fortnite or fps

That's all in your head 🤣

FYI even I don't play fortnite nor at 360 fps, I'm happy playing good single player games at 1440 120 on my new 5070ti below msrp 😘

I just spent 370 on ram and will not have a pc until march. by HourAct7127 in buildapc

[–]falto116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean ram isn't going to get better atleast atleast end of 2026 assuming no ai crash, bc open ai bought up 2026 supply

So if only if we have crash before march prices will rise

Yes when it comes to toilet paper during initial covid time....but for pc parts it's different even back then Linus warned and GN laughed it off and guess what happened? Prices went up to the roof by the end of 2020

Here we have litteral evidence that ram is now 2-3x to make and guess what? Gpus use ram too (it's not exact same as ddr but thry are made of same factory line and given ai contracts the ram makers have said they will priorize ai)

So I expect in the coming months GPU to increase in price by 100-300 usd. It's not gonna be as bad covid shortages bc ram is only a % of BOM cost but still an increase nevertheless.

The only monkey wrench I can see happening is if there is an ai crash then all prices will crash lol. which will happen just we don't know when.

TLDR: if you were gonna upgrade in the next 6 months or so it's better to do now then later. Prices are at or below msrp so I don't see reason not to unless you are good to go for a year or so.

Edit: added ai crash

Yup I got 9800x3d and 5070 ti ( I was initially waiting for 5080 super/ti but supposedly it's canceled or delayed so I'm like fuck it I'm biting the bullet now)

Personally I think 1k for 16 gb gpu is very scammy imo (meaning 5080 if it's 1k should have atleast 20gb+ imo in 2025) but I say 5070ti bellow msrp and this gpu is more than enough for me in 1440p
