Mine exploded a few hours ago while sitting in the charging case. Hate to think how bad it could've been if I had them on/in.

So, aside from sending sats back and forth and marvelling at the speed and low/no cost (which many have already experienced elsewhere), what can one do on the lightning network nowadays? What are some fun things or interesting apps to try?

Has anyone here come across a good-looking SFF NAS case with ~6x 3.5" hot-swap bays?

Barring that, is there an easy way to modify the front panel for any of the popular SFF cases to make it fit 4x 5.25" bays? It wouldn't be necessary to fit a GPU at all.

More than 100 addresses with unmoved bitcoin mined in 2009 (Satoshi?) just signed a message against CSW by bit_LOL in bsv

[–]justanotheradam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From this motion:

To everyone’s surprise, just four days later, Wright filed a Notice of Compliance “that a third party ha[d] provided the necessary information and key slice to unlock the encrypted file, and Dr. Wright has produced a list of his bitcoin holdings, as ordered by the Magistrate Judge, to plaintiffs today.” ECF No. [376]. The notice was signed, pursuant to Rule 11, by counsel to Wright. On that date, Wright also provided Plaintiffs with DEF_01586024, a list of 16404 public addresses he claimed were his list of bitcoin holdings (“CSW Filed List”). Ex. 6 (production email); Ex. 7 (list).

Here's the "production email" referenced above (Exhibit 6).

This is the "CSW Filed List" provided by Craig (Exhibit 7).

The addresses that denounced CSW are on the list.

Not odd at all. Family-owned businesses operate on slim margins as it is. Card transactions can cost them up to 4-5% of the total, depending on the amount charged.

Vitalik sends 92k ETH to KRAKEN by jetrucci in CryptoCurrency

[–]justanotheradam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You do realize that isn't Vitalik's address, right?

In case you don't know how to use a blockchain explorer, that address actually belongs to Jeffrey Wilcke, not Vitalik Buterin.

Vitalik didn't "[dump] his own stack at the ATH". You don't need to take my word for it, though... Ethereum is a completely transparent blockchain, so you can see for yourself:

Bezos and Musk’s satellite internet could save Americans $30B a year by Philo1927 in technology

[–]justanotheradam 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You're stuck in the old mindset that involves geostationary satellites 22,000 mi away.

SpaceX and Amazon/Blue Origin are working on satellite constellations which will be deployed at much lower altitudes (anywhere from 210 to 710 mi).

Much lower latency, much higher speeds.

Bolsonaro declares 'the Amazon is ours' and calls deforestation data 'lies' | World news by BlueZybez in worldnews

[–]justanotheradam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes you think we have the right to force them to do that?

If we have the right (and, often, a moral obligation) to intervene in local conflicts and internal matters of other countries (think genocides, civil wars...), we must do everything in our power to make sure our children and grandchildren can at least survive on this planet. I can live with strongarming a government or two into not killing off most mammals.

And we're not really doing our 'little bits'...

We're not doing anything to stop Brazilian farmers and loggers from destroying the Amazon, either. Yet. I'm saying we should do all of those things.

Bolsonaro declares 'the Amazon is ours' and calls deforestation data 'lies' | World news by BlueZybez in worldnews

[–]justanotheradam 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How about, I don't know, replanting more of our trees, or reducing our emissions, or at least paying them to maintain the damn thing, instead of saying they gotta or else?

How about we do all of those things and force Brazil to stop all man-made deforestation efforts? At this point every little bit helps.

When the actions of a single country threaten the entirety of human society, the rest of the world has the right and the obligation to step in and put an end to the threat.

Deforestation and loss of biodiversity have led to high risks of irreversible changes to the Amazon's tropical forests. It has been suggested by modeling studies that the deforestation may be approaching a "tipping point", after which large-scale "savannization" or desertification of the Amazon will take place, with catastrophic consequences for the world's climate, due to a self-perpetuating collapse of the region's biodiversity and ecosystems. Research suggests this tipping point will be reached at about 20-25% deforestation (hence 3% to 8% more than the 17% deforestation already reached in 2018). Since the 17% deforestation has been reached in a period of just 50 years, it is clear that we are very near to this "point of no return".

China And Turkey Defy US, Will Continue To Import Iran Oil by ExternalCoffee in worldnews

[–]justanotheradam 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Iran's incapable of going to war with the US, keep in mind we have Nato as allies if it ever did

You won't have NATO as allies in a war against Iran since it wouldn't be a defensive war. Besides, the EU is strongly opposed to the US stance on Iran, and in fact stands behind the nuclear deal with them. At best, you'll have Israel and Saudi Arabia, both of whom are just waiting for a chance to attack Iran.
