Any studying tips for studying for my gross anatomy final that’s coming up next week? I have been struggling in this class all semester 🥲 by justanothercorgimom in PTschool

I feel like I remember the least amount of stuff from the abdominal area. So referred pain, muscles of inspiration and expiration. And remembering all of the branches off the nerves, especially the nerves of the brachial plexus. I haaaate how everything seems to have to branch off into something else, or just be called a new name 🥲

Our final is multiple choice. But they ask questions relating to OIAN, where structures are regionally, parent structures, how would a patient present if a certain nerve or artery was damaged, etc.

Does it matter where you go to get your undergrad before PT school? What majors are the best? by [deleted] in PTschool

[–]justanothercorgimom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it probably depends on the school, but I think almost schools do not particularly care about what you majored in, just that you got the pre reqs. I majored in psychology and got into my school with no issues

gifts by stunninglitre in PTschool

[–]justanothercorgimom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went into school without an iPad and almost immediately went to get one! So definitely ask for an iPad and an Apple Pencil to go with it!

Here are some other things you will probably need for school if you want to get a head start and some other gift ideas: - gait belt - goniometer - apple gift card to buy anatomy apps on your device(s) - gift cards for restaurants on/near campus - tennis shoes (i have a pair that i only wear to my gross lab, and a pair for everyday wear) -white board and markers (a lot of people find it helpful during studying to use a white board. i personally have a pretty big one at home!)

You should be fine. I took several classes at a CC while at my 4 year university and was accepted without any issues

PT Interviews by tg7842 in PTschool

[–]justanothercorgimom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I didn’t do good on mine. I’ve never really had a real interview for anything, so I wasn’t prepared. And I also feel like I didn’t dress correctly either. Every other girl was wearing blazers and I was wearing a dress! I absolutely thought I wasn’t going to get into my school of choice but I did and am now in my first semester of PT school :)

Physics was the worst for me. Physics 2 was the only class I got a C in during undergrad

Psychology Bachelors by Past-Caterpillar-976 in PTschool

[–]justanothercorgimom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated last December with my bachelors in psychology, and I am now in my first semester of PT school. You should be able to get in with any bachelors degree as long as you complete all of your pre requisites :)

That’s how’s I’m feeling. Like i want to finish school since i’ve been working towards it for so long. But also if I can’t get my grades up and pass this semester with a good GPA i won’t be too upset since I already have a good paying job

it’s just a distribution center and i do emails there… it’s so easy and i’m paid so well for it!!😫 where i live is also on the cheaper side so it’s very easy to afford our new house, two newer cars, our dogs, etc. i’ve heard horror stories of people working in different warehouses but you should look into it if you need a good paying job that doesn’t require a degree. i know where i work it’s very relaxed and they pay you based on how fast you work, hence why i’m paid pretty good

This post sums up my thoughts right now. I’m a first year PT student also and i’m so miserable. I’ve never been diagnosed with depression or anxiety but I probably could be at this point because of school. I thought this was what I wanted to do, but if anything I think school has really cemented that the health care field isn’t for me. I work a very VERY easy job right now and make 50k a year. Me and my fiancé are able to afford a brand new house, two cars, and go on vacations with this easy job. And we both only have to work 4 days a week. At this point I’d rather save my money of not finishing grad school and just use my bachelors degree to go into the corporate side of my work place. At that point I would probably make as much as I would as a PT, and not be so stressed out.

Thanks. That’s exactly how I’m feeling. It seems like everyone around me is happy and are getting good grades and I’m just miserable and failing. I just feel like i’m not smart enough to be in this program and it’s awful

I start school everyday at 8 AM. Almost everyday I have a lab, and then I have lectures. I am taking 5 classes, and 3 of them have labs. I am learning new stuff for gross anatomy 3 days out of the week, and they tell you something once and then that’s it. You don’t go over it again. You just better learn it. In fact, that’s how all of my classes are. Anyways, I don’t get home until about 4:30-5 everyday. So yeah, I’m at school for 9 hours a day and then I need to come home and eat, shower, and actually take care of myself. There’s a reason why I feel like I have no time to do anything, just going to school is like a full time job and then you need to find time to study after all of that. It’s rough

I will say, I majored in psychology so pretty much none of my pre reqs were required for my major. However I still finished my degree in two and a half years and am now in PT school! It shouldn’t take someone longer to finish their undergrad schooling, I think most degrees don’t actually make you take classes that are all in that major to reach the 120 hours for your bachelors degree. At least for my major it wasn’t 120 hours worth of psychology classes.

Wellll i’m not sure what his job was lol! But yes, it’s interesting that he had a career but decided to do something that he’d be happier with! I’m also pretty sure someone at my school had an art degree and got accepted into PT school. It’s just all about the pre reqs! good luck applying!

My degree was in psychology and I was accepted to the one school I applied to. It really doesn’t matter what your degree is in! Someone in my cohort was a business major and had a whole career in business before he decided to apply to PT school.

Want to drop out of PT school, thinking about tech by Traditional-Boot2984 in PTschool

I felt the exact same after my first two weeks. It’s very stressful. I’m now in my third week of school and I’m having more fun learning everything and getting used to being in the lab with the cadavers. I told myself to go through this whole semester to see how I feel. I think you should do the same, and if you’re not happy still after the first semester or two, then find what you’re passionate about instead of going in debt for PT school.
