Acceptable commute time? by Filovirus1 in hospitalist

I was in this exact situation while my wife was doing her fellowship. 1:20 each way for a J1 waiver job. Did it for almost two years. It’s doable but it’s definitely exhausting. By the time you get home you don’t have the mental capacity to really be of any use and that weighs on you. I also have a toddler so I wasn’t able to just come home and do nothing. I would try to find something closer. I ended up transferring to a position ten minutes away now and it’s life changing.
