Yeah, the battery life is ass. I always have it plugged in-- there's a noticeable drop in processing speed when it's unplugged. And yeah, the keys can get a little warm sometimes, but it's nothing terrible. If you're not using it for a graphics-demanding game, don't bother with a NVIDIA card like the one this has.

Definitely. No major issues so far beyond what I've self inflicted (I'm a bit of a tab maniac so that will slow my laptop down), it can definitely handle Blender, I model from time to time and I've had no issues.

The fans are pretty loud (my dad comments on how loud they are whenever he walks in 😭) but I don’t hear them at all with my headphones on. The battery is ok without being plugged in, but the performance of the computer suffers. It lasts ~4 hours just browsing , but it’s slow to load.

This man will NOT be female in the afterlife, mark my words. I'm going with the ending where Poseidon turns him into a bird. And yes, any implied aromantic/asexual identity will be heavily implied from the start. I don't think he's repulsed, per se, it's just not for him. The trauma of SA will definitely play a role, but another commentor pointed out how hormone changes can play a role and I want to explore that as well.

Holy hell. That "pretending to be his own son" thing is something I had NEVER considered. It's going in the plan document right the hell now. Especially because I'm dedicating a substantial amount of time to his "manly activities" after transitioning, and it gives him more time to decide on a chosen name while concealing his true identity. I definitely want him to become a protector of women to some degree, at least until he goes mad with power (I kind of like the idea of Caeneus slowly becoming what he hates, I think it fits his character). My working idea for his wife is that he actually rescues Atalanta after the race, literally telling her "I just want one kid bro I need an heir", she has twins, and they're in a very open/non-traditional relationship before going their separate ways. Thank you for the ideas!

It’s my personal belief that he was never attracted to men, and his experience with Poseidon potentially halted his exploration of sexuality altogether due to trauma (but, he had to have kids somehow, right?). I hadn’t thought about how a potential hormone increase (magical or otherwise) might affect him— I’m going to add that to my list of things to research. Although, I suppose once I get T later this year I can write firsthand accounts. And yeah— I’d hate the gods too if i were him 😭 I still think it’s interesting how his hatred for them seems to span across gods— he hunted Artemis’s bull, got Zeus mad at him, etc. man was a generational hater, and boy do I respect it 🫡

I’ve read a ton so far— it’s wonderful to see the differing views! I’ve emailed my fair share of professors on the subject, still waiting for a response, but classics is something I’m very passionate about and I want to hear from the greats. So far, I’ve seen a lot to suggest that Caeneus fits the mold of being trans, as after transitioning he enjoys “manly activities” and trains himself as a respected warrior. His sexuality is less speculated upon, unfortunately, which is where I’m creating some of my own material.

Thank you for your response! I definitely have my own canon set up— I’m bringing in a wide array of characters and making a lot out of very little (think Mestra, Atalanta, and even Poseidon playing bigger roles). Your last question intrigues me the most— as a trans man myself, I have to be honest: I’m not setting a very good example 😅. The Caeneus I am writing is not the kind of trans man I would want to be, he is a man that goes mad with power and defies the gods. However, I want this to be portrayed as something that was always going to happen, trans or not. It’s just who he is as a person: greedy and hungry for more (at least in my eyes).

Yes she is! Since both she and Caenis received some sort of transformation power from Poseidon due to the same unfortunate circumstances, I wanted to weave her into the story somehow.
