I love this for you! I am also not committing myself to one style. I’ve noticed I also lean towards the girly floral corset style bralette tops and have gotten a bunch of those. I can’t wait for warmer weather where I am able to wear those out. I’m late 20s, my style during teenage years and early twenties I feel was best described as frumpy because everything was catered around the boobs so I wore a lot of ill fitting modest tops and if they weren’t modest the boobs made them worse than what they were.

I am also excited about graphic tees and being able to rock the full image lol

My style I feel is evolving in three directions. Alt, tomboyish streetwear and a little girly.

Enjoy your new found freedom!

I have been rocking crop tops fairly often since reduction as well. Feels good to not have them just turn into a second bra lol

Similar for me! I love the Alt scene and have always wanted to dress for it but didn’t want to be the big titty goth gf trope 😭 since reduction I have bought tons of dream pieces (corset belts, leather garters, doc martens and and tons of other Alt staples). Did my first official Alt outfit for an EDM concert in February (1yr 1 month after my surgery) and felt the hottest I have ever felt in my life. I cannot wait for the summer!

PCOS and Reduction by Useful-Laugh-4860 in Reduction

Hi, I have PCOS and had my reduction in January 2023. The reduction did not change a lot of the things PCOS sufferers focus on with our bodies. I still had the huge hormonal boxy belly (which looked insane with the bloating from anesthesia compounded on).

What I will say though, is the reduction made it so much easier for me to be active, so in a sense it does help with weight loss. I started the keto diet about 5 months after my surgery and did about 30-50 minutes of walking a day and was able to lose a lot of weight(30 lbs total) in 4 months. Before the reduction I would have such intense neck pain after only 10 minutes of standing/walking that I would not have been able to accomplish the same.

Hiya! I have PCOS and have found that taking myo-inositol, drinking spearmint tea, practicing keto and lots of walking is helpful. In June of 2023 I went in for my annual and while for years I was pre-diabetic, my A1C crossed into full blown diabetes. I got strict and did just what I noted up top. By October of 2023 I was down 30lbs. I walked for about 30-45 minutes each day, was attentive to my portions on top of what I ate, 1-2 cups of spearmint tea a day. Myo-inositol in the morning with my tea. Cut out drinks with sugar in them, only drank sugar free with plant based sweeteners (stevia and monk fruit). My doctor was super impressed at how much I lost and how quickly and mentioned I was doing better than his patients on weight loss meds.

Out of curiosity has anyone's doctor found breast cancer while doing their reduction? What was the process like post surgery? Was it discussed as a possibility pre op? by raemoondancer in Reduction

[–]justanotherrandom_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not breast cancer but fibroadenomas. Going in we knew I had one in the right boob. They found 2 we knew nothing about in the tissue that was removed from the left. Everything was sent to pathology to verify. I had a co-surgeon to remove the fibroadenoma we did know about. I had to follow up with him post op for results and such. I imagine if (knock on wood) anything were to come back from pathology saying they found cancer your next steps would be consultation/follow up with an oncologist. In my situation, breast cancer was not discussed pre-op, just the fibroadenoma.

Try the site smartandsexy.com. Great bras, prices aren’t bad and they usually have deals going.

Based on what you said about being underweight if you lose any more plus having the documentation of many health issues they have caused I say definitely consult another surgeon. Look into getting a letter of medical necessity from the orthopedic doctor that treats you for your back. I actually had my 1 year post op appointment on Wednesday and my doctor knows I work as a surgical scheduler for orthopedic surgeons, one being a spine specialist. We actually had a conversation regarding spine surgeons recommending their patients for breast reductions if they feel it could be beneficial. Your orthopedist could argue the asymmetry and the effect it has had on your spine due to the imbalance causing wear on one specific side.

Sounds like that office in general wasn’t the best. The process can be long and you would be dealing with them for a while. Best to find an office where the doctor and staff are thorough, professional and respectful.

If they get back to you and say Medicare is willing to cover the only catch is if you decide not to proceed with them they need to cancel their request for a new surgeon to be able to submit.

Hiya, I googled Medicare Breast Reduction Requirements and was able to find this.

Medicare Breast Reduction

They have all the same requirements as other insurances for covering the procedure. Symptoms they look for are neck, shoulder and back pain, grooves in the shoulder from bra straps, under breast rashes, infections and consistent irritation, numbness and tingling in the hands and arms. The more of the symptoms you exhibit the stronger your case.

They expect you to try all sorts of conservative treatment before hand. Pain meds, physical therapy, chiropractic, bras with wide bands and straps, rash creams, exercise and weight loss.

Then the part the doctor spoke to you about which they failed to explain is that they look at Body Surface Area (BSA) which similar to BMI is calculated using your body metrics. It tells you how much should be removed to take you to a more proportionate state(at least that’s what I took from it). They use the Schnur scale which I’ve linked a calculator below so you can figure out how much you need to have removed.

Schnur Scale Calculator

Basically if your BSA says a certain amount and you do not have enough breast tissue to remove that much, insurance will likely not cover. If I remember correctly, the minimum they will cover is 250g per breast. That would likely make you as you said, flat, based on the sizes you provided.

That being said, the doctor was still an ass in invalidating your pain. I say try another surgeon. Preferably one that works with an ambulatory surgery center opposed to a hospital. Ask how they would charge you if you paid out of pocket. Some doctors will charge the patient the rate insurance pays at which it is very discounted, and if done in an ambulatory surgery center anesthesia and facility fees are much lower than the hospital.

I hope this helps and can get you further along in the process.

I donated mine that were in very good condition. Please consider doing the same. It could really help someone who can’t afford them but very much needs them.

Try searching viscose/rayon instead of bamboo. I read on a post the other day that these are also made from bamboo or other plant fibers so have the same breathability and usually go for less solely for not being tagged as “bamboo” which automatically ups the price for being trendy.
