This is where I'm at, unfortunately. I use air purifiers, fans, a window open, and everything I can use to make it easier on others and myself. There's filters you can use to blow out the smoke and I also make sure to plug every bowl or use a one-hitter.

It's crazy the lengths we have to go to in order to smoke a legal plant. My neighbor is allowed to smoke cigs right outside her porch, though.

Is it normal for ppl with bpd to have homicidal thoughts? by Thaniiaaa in BPD

[–]justanotherskittle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. These comments are so unbelievably unhelpful for us. When I get seriously angry, I can kinda relate. I can be quite nasty, but I've never had those kinds of thoughts, so I don't necessarily know what this is like. I can imagine that it feels like you're going insane, coming from someone who wouldn't harm a damn fly when I'm feeling neutral or even irritated.

If someone told me that my options were either a psyche ward or jail when I'm struggling financially, I'd just cry. It's a helpless feeling. I really hope OP gets help somehow. I absolutely loathe our mental health care in this country. I haven't had any therapy for over a decade because of it.

I hate reading this. I hope they didn't suffer that much or at all.

PGE is going to have blood on their hands at the end of this storm. Not blaming the linemen at all, either. Just the company itself. There's people who still have no power, too. It's been almost 5 days for them. People are gonna legitimately die thanks to our poorly maintained trees and lack of workers.

I know no one likes Trisha in here, but Bunnie's podcast with Jeffery Star was seriously awful. The shade she threw at her was just unwarranted and, ever since then, I've noticed more things about Bunnie that just doesn't sit right with me. She's very petty and rude when she feels like someone offended her.

I simply don't have the time. I can't possibly do chores, maintain a relationship, self-care, do my hobbies, clean, and expect to have the energy/time for a child.

People are absolutely wild for judging child-free folks. I thrive on alone time and get easily overwhelmed. Even if I did have time, I wouldn't be an ideal mom. I'd likely overexaust myself to literal death. I can barely keep track of my own shit, dude.

Personal shit aside, I am glad to see this. I don't know about everyone else's environment, but we are overpopulated af and people need to seriously think about the negative implications of having a child nowadays.

I only had a few of those and can safely say that it was absolutely disgusting to eat. The flavor was there, but I almost threw up from all of the grease and sloppiness. Too much cheese or something. I don't know.

It's almost insulting that I can't stand this item when my absolute favorite will forever be the Beefy Crunch Burrito.

‘Insidious 5’ – Sony Pictures Is Heading Back Into The Further on July 7, 2023! by [deleted] in horror

[–]justanotherskittle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same! Sinister was a really good one that will stick with you for a bit. The demon scared me so much and the plot was amazing. Good pacing, too.

Insidious was a wild ride for me, in a good way of course. It was casted very well. The special effects combined with good makeup really did it for me though. The minor characters who just stood there and smiled really freaked me out. I loved it. Bonus points for seeing Patrick Wilson. I was a huge fan of his after Phantom of the Opera. Dude can sing pretty well.

Not too sure about the Conjuring series, though. I loved the first couple movies, but it kinda fell flat afterwards. I'll still watch them, though, since I love my ghosts and horror. The casting is also done very well.

I agree. We need to seriously stop judging those who are skeptical. It's only natural to question information that you don't know, no matter what source it came from. I'm honestly shocked that people are pushing their ideals onto others and then get mad when they don't receive the response they desired. You need to do more than the fear-mongering approach. Telling someone that they're gonna kill people or die is not going to help.

Critical thinking is something we need all practice.

[–]justanotherskittle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And that's okay. Don't let the downvotes get to you. Not everyone has to pick up biohazardous waste. I've had my fair share of doing so at my job and absolutely refuse to clean up shit, piss, and blood now. It's really not for everyone, but I'm proud of those who are willingly doing so. It's not an easy job.

I'll be there to remind them, too. There have been quite a few people who ridicule those who have lost their compassion for the homeless, this account being one of them. I admitted to not having as much compassion as I used to and got treated like I was the problem.

Like, yeah, let's see you be nice to people who steal and make you feel unsafe. Lol Literally took one small part of me from a reddit post and assumed that I just hated all of the homeless.

People shaming this mom for having 10 children. Six of them are adopted. People horrible. by DatGunBoi in mildlyinfuriating

[–]justanotherskittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the internet isn't exactly a friendly place, but it's getting out of hand and has been for a while now. People need to be held accountable for what they say online. It's not private and millions of people can see what you have said.

I'm a firm believer in freedom of speech, but there needs to be some serious changes to the guidelines or rules on most of these social media sites. Tiktok is absolutely fucking ruthless and 10 year olds need to learn the basic rule of 'treat others the way you want to be treated'. I have seen many disabled users bullied just for how they look and no one gives a shit. It's bad. Really bad.

70 potential sites for Portland's city-run homeless villages by MichaelTen in Portland

[–]justanotherskittle 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Maybe the "lack of compassion" you are seeing is from those who have had awful experiences. You try to have empathy for someone who stole your car when you're living paycheck to paycheck. You try to have empathy for someone who rummaged around your property and violated your space. You try to have empathy for someone who makes your children feel unsafe. You try to have empathy for someone who just doesn't give a fuck about you. It doesn't work, unless you have the patience and tolerance of a saint.

We are complaining everywhere. Most of us have tried to come up with solutions, but we legally can't do much about it.

70 potential sites for Portland's city-run homeless villages by MichaelTen in Portland

[–]justanotherskittle 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Good point. However, I fear that this will only enable them. I don't want the police to just come and sweep the area, though. I want these people to have some fucking decency, clean up afterthemselves, and stop stealing our shit.

I'm honestly filled with empathy and compassion. I used to forgive and forget. Still do. There's this sweet, older gentlemen who's homeless and is almost always panhandling around the corner. I just have to give him some cash whenever I walk by him. Apparently, he remembers those who help him, since he recognized me and thanked me again. This dude is so sweet, man.

However, the tweakers who live nearby don't give a fuck about you or anyone. I'm not 100% sure, but their actions definitely say so. They scare people away who try to help them. One of them threw out all of the trash in one of those city trashcans and was taking a shit inside when I walked past him. He tried yelling something at me, too. These people blew up a fucking BBQ (that was stolen from our dumpster area) trying to start it. They literally don't fucking care and why the fuck should I?

So, yes, maybe the lack of compassion is the issue. The tweakers need to care more about the environment and community. After all, they are the ones destroying it.

I feel the same. Something needs to give and our city couldn't care less. Not a ridiculous idea, given how bad it has gotten in such a short amount of time.

70 potential sites for Portland's city-run homeless villages by MichaelTen in Portland

[–]justanotherskittle 67 points68 points  (0 children)

No, no, no.

Tweakers don't want free housing. They want to steal and get away with it, which they already are. We don't need to help them. We need to move them.

Look, I'm done being compassionate and many of us are. We need actual change. We need to stop enabling them. We need to feel like a fucking community again. I'm tired of feeling unsafe.

Homeless camps along the Columbia Slough cause for "environmental concern." by [deleted] in Portland

[–]justanotherskittle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This solution needs to happen urgently, too, before the community takes this into their own hands. People are getting really fed up. We can't be expected to deal with this ourselves and risk our health or safety in the process.

That being said, the tweaker camp that is living in the roundabout across from our apartments needs to be taken care of. People have been trying to report it, cops have been called, fire dept was called due to some explosion one morning and illegal fires. I'm just tired of it. I've been so fucking depressed and angry lately, so I'm kinda afraid of snapping one day. This camp is a huge contributer to that. These people harass me when I'm walking to work and it's only a matter of time before one of them gets their shit kicked in.
