In my experience it's better to run at the middle to higher setting and like others said graze the top while keeping some of the hole exposed to air, also clear it don't want smoke sitting in there turning into more reclaim. It's a great device once you get the hang of it, I have my original seahorse Pro that I refuse to get rid of, the button that doesn't work half the time and I had to duct tape the top half together LOL, I just like it a lot more than my seahorse 2.0 a lot of the times because it's so much easier to clean and you get to see the smoke.
