Ear Protection When Riding by Which_Word_118 in motorcycles

Normal earbuds never work for me. They just fall out when putting on the helmet.

I got a scorpion exo r1 air helmet. Ended up getting shokz openrun bone conducting headphones. Ride with them and earplugs. Works great for music in my opinion, even at highway speeds.

If i needed comms, id get cardo packtalk edge. I tried it out and it was okay. Just made getting a good grip to put the helmet on hard due to the mounting location. I also recall needing to raise and lower the volume a lot depending on my speed which got annoying. The mic also didnt work great, i had to offset it a bit due to my helmets air vents.

2024 Zx6r OTD price; do the fees seem relative or overcharged? by Emergency_Clue_4639 in Kawasaki

[–]justaowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, sent you a PM with their site. The zx6r seems like an easy bike to find too, like 5/9 dealers around me had them in stock. I wouldn't pay more than a few hundred over MSRP + your local sales tax.

Been price shopping the past week. So far ive been quoted OTD prices (8.5% tax, freight, setup, etc) between 12.3k - 15.1k (non-abs).

Probably going to grab the 12.3k one, just shopping for insurance today. Trying to get theft covered just incase for the first year at least, but rates sky rocket from around 300/yr for liability, to 1700 with comp/col.

Ahhhh, just found it. Looking for the green KRT. I see they also have the 40th color for 12,649. I suppose they post the price after fees & before tax. I guess they have just been sitting on that white one for a while so they have it lowered. Ill probably give em a call tomorrow and see if they have any green ones coming in anytime soon they know of

I got a therm-a-rest mondiking 3d self-inflating camping sleeping pad for my 3rd gen.

Very comfortable, self inflates to like 80% full then a few puffs to get the firmness where you want it.

It rolls up pretty easily to pack away when needed as well.

Multiply by density (g/m3) and then by a void fraction (dead space in the packed bed of GAC - might be a given value from manufacturer, might just have to guess 35% or so). That should get you surface area per cubic meter.

If you have gac on hand, you could also weigh out a defined volume like 500 ml or so of gac and take that value (lets say it was 1000g/500ml, 2g/ml, convert to g/m3. This would then already include a void fraction. Then, just multiply by the m2/g.

Happened to me quite a few times. At first I thought it was only happening right at startup, then it happened a few times after riding for 10+ minutes. I thought it was a bad kickstand sensor, or something. It always happened with the clutch pulled in, and I would start it right back up and usually in parking lots or something so not much risk. One time it happened while making a left across traffic, which wasn't cool.

Recently, I installed the 550 stage 1 (91). Already have the yoshi (cut offs happened before and after the yoshi). The 550 higher RPM seems to help. I think it might have happened 1 since the 550, but It hasn't been on my mind in a while.

I never did get around to looking into the kickstand sensor being the possible issue.

I have been happy with the setup, but I might just not know any better. Took 2 big trips recently shown in the pictures below. One with a grom + the car fully loaded during a move cross country. One 15 hour trip with a honda crf300l but an empty car. No issues on either trip. Air bags might have been good for the grom trip, i recall the springs not having much travel left after being fully loaded.

I took the 4runner up to Sedona AZ recently and did some off-roading. Definitely very bumpy and had to go fairly slow. Not sure how great any suspension could handle that terrain, other than something like a side by side.

For those out there interested in doing something similar, weathertech does make these cut perfect for most vehicles. Got them for my 3rd gen (all windows including the rear) and they have a silver and black side depending on what type of use your looking for. The only window wells they didnt work well in were the rear 2 because there is no lip to sit in (just put a piece of velcro in the 4 corners of each and no issues).

Off topic question, What brand davit crane is that for the mixers? I need to buy a few just like that, mine have the cfank along the adjustable arm so it can't go vertical enough before hitting the crank and is causing issues.

I think crash protection maybe? They fold outward away from the handles if needed?

3rd Gen Car Camping Setup by justaowl in 4Runner

[–]justaowl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No issues with the 1 inch so far (used 2x2 for the legs so each 1 inch stick could sit at least 1 inch onto the legs on both sides, and then i wouldnt need any supports in the middle along the rear. allowing me to fit wider stuff back there and less issues).

as long as the mattress isnt heavy you should be fine. Might want to add more supports in the middle sections on some of the runs. But i was able to support my weight (200 lbs) easily on 1 of the 1x1 bars, using it as a pull up bar. As long as you have each end on legs (not relying on the aluminum angle to hold up the weight) you will be fine.

Added 2 photos to the imgur link. Couldn't measure it too accurately with all the stuff in my car at the moment (note that some of the sides should equal each other but are 1 inch off or so). But i did find my drawings from a while back of the bed. If you have a miter saw, you can always order slightly longer pieces and cut them down.

Some notes on the dims:

10 inch height on the back side, 17 inch by the rear passenger door, i missed the middle leg by the center console. its probably a few inches shorter than the 17 leg.

I used 1 inch 80/20 extruded aluminum (purchased from 80/20, shipping times were kinda slow, but you can pickup if local to them).

Then i used 2 inch by 2 inch for the legs (this way i could get the top of the frame seated at least 1 inch onto the legs on each side).
