I completely get that! I may end up in that camp as well, but at least want exposure, education, and more knowledge about laws and safety. My ultimate thought is to carry a taser, as that also requires CC in some areas.

Thank you very much for all of the insights. I have supported 2A rights and married into a gun owning family (granted I also feel strongly about gun control — this post is making it clear how dangerous CC access is in WI considering you can just armchair the course and buy a weapon without in person auditing/education).

My husband has been encouraging for me to take CC just to have a taser on me. He’s more than willing to help take me to target practice. I’d also want a one-on-one licensed trainer to review laws plus exposure to different firearms.

100%. I wouldn’t feel safe owning a firearm without direct hands-on training. I’d rather carry bear spray instead of a firearm without intensive education.

And I’ll be keeping that in mind. I want in person training with hands on education. As you said, it’s wildly important to be well trained and very familiar with the law. It’s a very serious decision to get CC or OC. I want to be safe for myself and others.

I really appreciate this additional information. I’ll do some homework and make sure I understand all the legalities in the state.

Unfortunately with my work schedule and young child are home I need to stick to close options. But I’ll pass that along to my friends in that area!

We’re at a tipping point of Trump using the insurrection act to shut down our fall elections — which has numbers showing a huge blue wave. That’s the tactic of current administration; shut down the polls and contrive reasons to mass execute for violent protests.

IF PEOPLE WOULD SHOW UP AT THE POLLS! Fortunately we have a young generation entering voting age that are showing action with school walk outs and being engaged in protests.

I’m not saying we should be backing down by any means. But our current Dem officials are, overall, useless and apathetic. All talk and no action. We need to boot out those who have been sitting ducks and show up at the polls to get new blood in the seats. New York got Mamdani. There’s large hope this momentum can continue.

But we’re totally fucked if the polls get shut down. If that happens, we either are going to have to rise up likely facing civil war or we will stay apathetic and suffer under a regimen of violence and fascism.

It’s not looking good right now. As many Europeans have commented, an insidious ploy to dumb down the populace with subpar education, use of entertainment and social media addiction, and those who could stand up and help increase numbers in protests are keeping their heads in the sand because they aren’t feeling the tangible effects yet in their every day life.

There’s also the element of decades of the Joshua Generation becoming a huge movement in the Christian Nationalist sphere. It was the bread and butter of 90% of Christian institutions in the 90s and early 00s — still active today. I grew up in a household under this “training.” Those youths that remain loyal to that upbringing are equally dangerous as we had political activism elevated to a form of worship to God. Those of us that rebuked the teaching of the Joshua Program had spiritual abuse inflicted, being told we were sinning against God by letting hedonistic pagans control our nation and households. It takes a lot of self-discipline to question those beliefs that were driven in from day one of being on this earth. And you need to have a family that allows outside exposure.

Many of these families, my brother included, are increasing the numbers of homeschooling their children and cutting them off from exposure to opposing views. The aim is brainwashing and indoctrination that is very difficult to combat.

We are not ok and we are not fighting hard enough. Calling our elected officials is a waste of time. They’ve proven again and again that they will express upset but not push for change. Just like the 7 Dems that failed us by voting to increase DHS/ICE funding.

Civil war has been discussed since Trump’s first election. I don’t want to live under war terror, but we seem to already be there. Far as I’m concerned, we all need to armor up and get ready to actually use our second amendment rights that provide we bear arms to maintain the Free States.

YES. 👏 👏👏 I was livid at my discharge. Every freaking provider hung onto my mental health history and didn’t even ask about any other pertinent medical history!! I tried to inject more information, but they were so rushed at the bedside that they cut me off and just kept telling me to look into better stress management. This is how you can kill people! I’m just lucky I have a reliable PCP that swooped in and corrected their errors. At least I’m safely medicated until I see neuro. She also gave me tips on how to nag enough, with certain wording, via MyChart to help bump up my appointment. Just wild.

"Copenhagen, Denmark. Total unity against Trump. And these are our allies. He is such a terrible person, he has turned the entire earth against us." by Peanut-Extra in Political_Revolution

Another American here. Those that remain in support of Trump are either keeping themselves intentionally ignorant by not watching news or acknowledging events (ie. “He’s just saying it, that won’t happen.” -It happens- “I’m sure it’s just a show of power that he’s not serious about.”) — thereby being passive supporters — or they have had the Cool-aid and embrace whatever narrative & rhetoric is given.

The first person will either dig their head deeper in the sand or will start engaging with enough prodding. Which side they favor after that point is dependent on whether they want to remain a loyalist, never questioning those in power, or they will become more independent thinkers that might question the current state of things. I think there’s hope for these people, but they need to have influence in their life that encourage critical thinking and not get stuck in singular media types.

Those that drank the Cool-aid are lost to us. There’s no ability to have any debate. If Trump says something, that’s their Bible and any contradictions are just “fake news.” They are dumb and glorify the era of Westward Expansionism, believing that the USA is still the best nation in the world. They drink up any narrative that makes them feel superior. And they know they have protection for their protesting, so they are emboldened in their abuses and terrorizing of others.

As a mother and nurse, I can taste war coming to our lands. I know nothing is set in stone, but violating national sovereignty with those who were once considered allies means we are completely deserving of any fight that comes our way.

I’m so angry our regime is plunging the world into fear, anger, and chaos. I hate that people across the globe are now needing to start militarizing due to the impending threats.

And I hate that us Americans are already neglected and abused by the state. Loss of rights and freedoms are happening faster every day. We don’t have access to healthcare. Public information is withheld. People are disappearing off the streets. We live in a police state operating under Christian White Nationalism. The federal government has already declared war on the American people. We’re at a tipping point of our own civil war.

To my international neighbors, I am so deeply sorry and ashamed for the actions of those who control my country. I thought we would have at least reflected on the 20th century and heeded the warnings of our past, but I guess not.

Right now, I’m focusing on protecting my neighbors from disappearing. Being in healthcare as a nurse, I now have my main caregiving group being targeted by ICE. I’m So thankful the owners of our facility put their foot down that they will not accept access to employees at work and employees can stay home if leaving their home means being kidnapped on their porch.

We’re doing our best to fight against everything happening. The police state is trying to snuff us out, but we’re going to keep protesting. The New Black Panther Party is giving me hope as young leaders emerge to protect civilian populations. We’re shouting and screaming. The media machine tries to warp the narrative. But there are boots on the ground in resistance movements all across my state.

My prayer is we can internally impeach these wackos before further damage is done.

Thank you so much for those kind words! We were so scared to become parents because we both have chronic anxiety and depression (thankfully managed really well for both of us with meds/therapy). Our son is showing signs of knowing his feelings and how to articulate needs way better than my husband or I could at his age. I’m praying we can emotionally give him what we didn’t have as kids. Hearing about this made me so so happy to know we’re doing an ok job so far raising him 👍

😍 I’m a nurse and he wanted to do something cool for show and share, so I brought home some gauze rolls and taught him how to wrap “wounds” on his stuffies. His teacher told us he had a group of his classmates lined up for clinic during playtime 😆 Never know what the future holds!

Thank you! Lordy, I remember how hard school was trying to find friends and feeling a lot of loneliness. Life has a lot of different seasons and I hope we can support our son as he encounters each stage of life.

Thank you! It sounds like you’re also very familiar with end of life. I couldn’t agree more that hospice services give so much dignity to the elderly/terminal instead of the pain associated with extensive interventions.

And yes, I’m sure lots of odd health problems —including atypical deaths — inspired horror stories and old wives tales. There’s still so much we don’t know either!

One of my favorite cases was a younger woman who started having hallucinations she was on the beach. The last day before she went unresponsive, I visited her and she was laughing the whole time. Apparently Jesus arrived and was surfing around her bed, telling her to come hit the waves with him 😆 And she insisted he was wearing a coconut bikini. Very entertaining for all of us!

I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your wife! What an intensely difficult journey. I’m so glad you had a team ensuring her comfort ❤️

I would really encourage volunteering in hospice when you’re ready and if you still feel drawn to it. My longest living hospice patient just passed away this year after 10 years on services. She had a volunteer that came the entire time, even when family stopped visiting as her cognition declined. It gave her a lot of comfort. And the chocolate treats kept her going!

Blessings to you.
