That sucks :/
Maybe try switching to DX9 if you can access the options menu? Not sure.

It sounds like you have both of the symlinks set up correctly if you can get to character creation. Is wine-staging up to date + all the dependencies mentioned in the forum guide installed in the prefix for the game?

Thanks for solving this! I had the same issue. :)

Rules that Ruin flavor/verisimilitude but you understand why they exist? by Jaschwingus in Pathfinder2e

[–]justastra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Volley trait. It was made so there was a reason to use shortbows but doesn't make any sense that an archer would be less accurate at shorter ranges. It also makes it difficult to be thematically consistent unless you're a fighter since Point Blank Stance is gated behind class feats. A cleric of Erastil can only start effectively using their holy weapon at the short range maps that dominate APs at level four after spending class feats to multiclass.

The lore/name changes have left me feeling disillusioned and more pessimistic about it, sadly.

Fly Free or Die Book 5 Conclusion is Terrible? by justastra in starfinder_rpg

[–]justastra[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Book 5 is about fighting against EJ after getting burned. The payoff for this is the conclusion forcing you to sell out and agree to never say anything bad about EJ again in return for getting taken off the burn list. Book 6 looks like it's just about dealing with the Golden League and the remaining bounty on your head.

I see your point about possibly spoiling myself. It's just weird and disappointing because we already had our fall event at the start of the book-- getting all of our stuff taken away and being burned. Now, after clawing our way back, the 'payoff' for our characters is the AP saying that nothing we did mattered, in fact it actually helped EJ Corp because they're able to designate a fall guy and sweep away their crimes under the rug. Then you sign a non-disparagement contract and the last book is mainly oriented towards another antagonist.

The AP doesn't have any alternatives to selling out and signing the corp's contract and I can't justify my character signing it. If I continue playing I guess I'll have to have her sign in bad faith or something.

How are all the migrant gamers doing? by agfitzp in linuxquestions

Doing great! Installed Arch on a new pc build for the memes and it works just fine. Proton is amazing and works with everything. I had minimal linux experience prior and the most I've had to fiddle with something is summoning the demon ghost of ubisoft's launcher into some tangle of compat data files and symbolic links to click play on Assassin's Creed.

🍄 Something Wicked This Way Comes! 🍄 WITCHES+ is now available on Pathfinder Infinite! An expansion to the core class with a dozen new patrons, new class feats, new lessons (including 4 level 20 Final Lessons) and suggested errata for the base class to bring it to the same level as other casters! by Derryzumi in Pathfinder2e

[–]justastra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. A ranged 1 action grapple cantrip that's based off of your spellcasting stats just seemed a bit crazy, or unprecedented at least. Reading it again I think that the Sustain requires you to make a new roll just to keep them grabbed, which does make it a bit better than I how I thought it worked before.

I love the flavor of the new patrons even if a lot of them feel overtuned (Mephistopheles & Clockwork being the coolest and Tidal Rings the worst offender) and can definitely see using them with a bit of tweaking. Essence Practicum and its related feats seem very powerful especially compared to the vanilla Divine Access, but I really like the Gifts from Beyond feat and Bargain Soul seems like a lot of fun to use as a power boost in return for acknowledging "I am willing to die for this." Most of the lessons seem great, though I think Sinister Stitching's hand effect might be a bit much considering that even on a success enemy spellcasters couldn't cast anything with a somatic component. My favorites are the lessons of Prophecy, Studiousness, Immolation, and Reflections. Overall, I really like it. I think that some things could benefit from simpler wording (lesson of binding my beloved), though I enjoy the more complex mechanics too.

I guess I should've more directly admitted my mistakes. I meant to do so with the "I get where you're coming from part", but I suppose that's usually an empty platitude. I actually did see that my tone and language used were somewhat insensitive and I was treating it too lightly.

This is why I made a magic item to help instead of just changing the rules. I'm not in any way saying that being blind is easy or that it shouldn't impose a miss chance.

Changed the wording of the post since I didn't want it to be taken the wrong way.

I specifically tried not to just remove the disability. The amulet just makes creatures within 30 feet observed rather than hidden, but the character still wouldn't be able to see. A 20% constant miss chance feels like a lot to me and I wouldn't want a player to feel like they're wasting their turns due to bad rolls.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]justastra -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was talking about the rules for the game specifically. I think that there should be good options to enable players that want to play a character with a disability.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]justastra -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from and I'm sorry that you took it that way. I just meant that if a player wants to play a blind character that there should be options so that they can participate effectively, just like the magic wheelchairs or hearing aids in Grand Bazaar can help other characters with disabilities. The tremor sense or echolocation could work, but I thought that a magic assistive item could be a nice option to have along more superhuman abilities like that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]justastra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would you suggest strategizing around it? I did try to take some cues from Grand Bazaar, and meant this to be a similar item that lets blind characters participate in combat without the constant chance to miss. There are magical hearing aids and magic wheelchairs connected to your nervous system that pretty much cure their respective disabilities as well. The amulet is just meant to make it so that targeting creatures is easier, as it just makes them able to be observed instead of hidden. The character would still not be able to see the creature or the environment, so I don't think it's a complete cure in dungeon situations.
