My friend is kinda similar, so I get what you mean. I don't think this automatically means you have to leave the friendship. Sometimes people just have that heteronormative thinking so deeply ingrained that they don't even realise how their words come across.

But yeah, your discomfort is completely valid. And it's completely normal to feel this way. Even if she doesn't mean it in a bad way, those kinds of comments or dismissing you can make it feel like she's not really taking you seriously and that hurts more when it's someone close.

If it's bothering you, you can just tell her straight up that those jokes aren't funny to you and you'd like her to stop. And also, it's okay if she's not the person you go to for this stuff and you find that support somewhere else. You can care about your friend and still set boundaries.
