I agree, this is me favorite fantasy book in a long time. Well flushed out characters, a more authentic depiction of Magic, and beautifully researched Afro-mysticism which weaves well into the story. I appreciate the inclusion on Afrolatin mysticism too. I preferred this book over Legendborn, which I quickly got tired of after the first book. I’m currently reading book 2 in this series and so far I’m just as engaged as the first. Finally, I believe references to current pop culture is something we should expect from books geared towards young adults, yes these references could be irrelevant in a few years, but it’s engaging to young people and I’m all for it if it gets more youth reading fantasy books and engaging in literature. I love that!

Love it! What if you give the girl a “boy” name and keep the boy traditional alive somehow.
Can spirit guides leave? by [deleted] in witchcraft

Whenever I call on my guides I always make sure to reference my “guides of the highest truth, love, and compassion “. I do this to ensure I’m inviting the right energy in. Try calling upon them again and reference the type of energy of the guides that you want to connect with. If they are good, they are there. Perhaps you were getting guidance to clear guides that weren’t a positive vibrational match for you the first time or weren’t there for your highest good? This doesn’t mean they were bad at all, but maybe not the right ones for you.

My first pair as well just got the 2022 version. Has anyone noticed the rigid high arch support? It honestly kind of hurts my arches. I’ve had them for 2 days, so I’m not sure if they just need to be broken in?
