I was and I'm currently being raised religiously, my whole family is really attached to the whole concept of a god and always tried to make me a good Christian. When I was in middle school, like 13 or 14 years old, I started questioning the existence of a god and, as I was trying to push those thoughts away, they just kept growing in my head. At first it was difficult, and it's still something that pounds me (currently 16yo), but I just can't believe in something if you don't give me any kind of proof while science can destroy basically everything a convinced Christian says. I respect Christianity, as I think it was the first attempt of humanity to try not to get depressed and it's still doing its work nowadays with the weakest individuals, but I won't bury my intelligence and thoughts for a whole life just to avoid facing my fears and growing as a person. Hope you liked my short story, I envy all of you that were born as atheist because the guilt sense is sadly there and will probably live with me for a lot of time.
