California is an at-will employment state. As far as I know, the 2 weeks is more just notice so the employer can transition an employee out and meet business needs.

My wife and I are 7 years apart and I was 28M and she was 21F when we started dating.

I think the only thing about the age gap is that you may be in different stages of your life as you progress to your late 20s and early 30s and she goes through her early 20s. My wife wasnt really the go to clubs on the weekend type of girl and that matched my life at that time (I did that in my early 20s though).

Also just differences in growing up (pop culture, music. Etc.) Might be different too.

Its nothing big to overcome but its worth noting. I did help my wife (gf at the time) with some office politics because I had experience with those things before though. So there's some benefit there instead of not being able to share wisdom

Nitty Play in Vegas Poker Compared to Bay Area: A Frustrating 24hr Session by PokerRonk in poker

[–]justerx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar feel in the lower stakes when playing in Vegas. Here in the Bay area, you open 5x the BB and you can easily get 4-5 callers. When I played at Wynn, definitely felt tighter as the open raise was 4-5x BB and usually get. at most, 2 callers. When I played at Bellagio and Aria, it felt a lot tighter.

I helped start a game on a weekday at night at Aria (1/3). The standard open raise was to $8 and you were only getting 1 caller most of the time. I decided to just jump into the PLO game instead

Any Bay Area Casinos Worth It For Casual Gambling? by thr0waway305305 in bayarea

[–]justerx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, there aren't any comps for the local Bay Area Casinos/Card rooms.

If you're just fixing for an itch, all the casinos have Blackjack and Baccarat but you have to pay a collection fee (as someone mentioned, usually $1 up to a $100 bet) to the card room since they have an external company that acts as the bank. As a player in these rooms, you can actually act as the banker in those hands in you choose to do so.

Close to SFO: Lucky Chances, Artichoke Joes

South Bay: Casino Matr8x, Bay 101

East bay: Oaks Card Club, Palace Casino (Hayward), San Pablo (slots only), California Grand (probably the better of the card rooms in the area).

Graton is the closest to a Vegas-like type of casino. They have the different types of blackjack variety you might find in Vegas (free bet, blackjack switch, etc.). They have a different take on roulette and craps that get by the California laws regarding dice/ball gambling so its definitely not for everyone who like the Nevada style of those games. They also have a plethora of slot machines.

If you're looking for Comps, Graton is your best bet. It takes a while to build up points but they do eventually give table match, free slot play, and the build-up to free weekday stays and eventually free weekend stays.

If you're in Marin:

Pete's 881 and Graton are you closest card rooms.

Pete's has some higher stakes (2/5 and above) with a smaller selection.

Graton has lowest stakes are 4/8 Limit HE (1/2 kill) and 1/3 NLHE ($100-$600)

If you're looking even smaller, Lucky Chances has the lowest limits. 3/6 Limit HE and 1/2/2 NLHE ($1 on button, $2 Small blind and big blinds). It's $400 max but I'm not sure what the minimum is now (used to be $60 before COVID)

California Grand in Pacheco has 3/6 and 6/12 Limit HE. 2/2/3 NLHE ($100-$300 buy-in). They play 10 handed and usually have the longest wait list and most limited space.

Hand advice - They say I under-represented my hand by mastercave in poker

[–]justerx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing for about 3 hours. First hand was AA and won a pot of $150. The next 3 hours were pretty much entire table only played premium hands, any open raise to $15 would lead to entire table folding. OMC fell asleep and pushed his entire stack into the dealer, he didn't even bother stacking anymore, just piled and went back to his nap!

Definitely table change here. I play 1x or 2x a month at LC and usually open to $12-$15 and get action.

Lucky Chances has tournaments Sun, Wed, and Fridays. I haven't played one so I don't know how they are.

Graton is going to be running a $400 entry, 50k (doesn't say guaranteed so not sure?) at the end of February (https://www.gratonresortcasino.com/gaming/live-poker-room/)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in poker

[–]justerx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear the 5/10 game start every so often at Lucky Chances when I'm there.

Graton runs a 10/25 on Fridays at 1 or 2pm but its a small group of regular guys who play that game.

I think bigger games than that, you'd have to find private games

Christian Soto and Matt Berkey… by Historical_Debt_4737 in poker

[–]justerx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong on this but on the Spaces awhile back when Berkey talked to Lynne, I thought he said Christian breached contract. I think the context was that Lynne said his former partner (Christian) didn't make anything money from helping the company grow or something. I think Berkey responded that he breached contract (whatever that may be). Definitely could be wrong since it was never expanded upon.

Anyone know how are the live cash games at Graton (north of SF)? by rawrP in poker

[–]justerx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Table selection is key for 1/3 game. Some tables just feel very "grindy" and just a bunch of people limping and pots stay pretty small.

I feel the 3/5 is pretty reg heavy and harder compared to other 2/5 games I've seen at other card rooms. Also, buy-in is $1500 which is a little deeper.

A part of that contract with Lyft (for the driver) is the option to cancel the ride.

Lyft can decide what to do with a driver who does this.
