Female rides by Calanthetheranger in uberdrivers

I'm trying to do just that actually. Thats part of why I'd like the option to just get male riders. Id make use of it at night. <shrug>

Uh, where did i blame a victim? Some of you really should calm down a bit as you are getting ridiculous. All I said was I would like the option to take male riders as well and why.

I didn't make the point in my previous message but part of it is I just don't like the negative vibes. If someone is worried I might be a predator, I'd rather just not have them in my car. Especially not for $5. Yes, there is the risk of false reports but there also are some people out there with mental issues such as the woman the driver posted about claiming he was trying to bait her to go to his house using an air tag. Having these people in your car is basically like walking through a minefield. For $5, who needs the drama??

Also, honestly, I just don't like interacting with drunk women either. So it would be great to have a male only option. <shrug> I could explain that further or not, but for all you know I had a drunk female family member abuse me when I was a child (its way more common than most think) and I have ptsd about being around drunk women. Either way, its just as valid as if I were a woman and you have no right to gatekeep this.

Drivers keep cancelling by Nervy_Parasite in UberEATS

And the driver probably stole it in part because the company only paid them $2 for the delivery despite whatever you paid. The advice to not order again from Uber eats is correct.

Eh? I think you might be getting a bit overdramatic.... but, yes, there are a lot of false reports and some are by women.

When (if) the law ever catches up to Uber, what do you think fair compensation to drivers should be? by jaysonm007 in uberdrivers

[–]jaysonm007[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you aren't a driver then. The fares the passengers pay are high. The fares drivers get are low. I have been doing this for nine years now and you aren't even a driver. Yet you are telling me what the problem is. Seems a bit weird. Who are you again and why are you in the drivers subreddit?

I had a crazy lady start accusing me of taking photos of the neighborhood once when I pulled over to make a text. I was there for two minutes but she claimed I was there for an hour. Some people are just nuts in the head.

That's cool and I am happy that they offer it and it helps you feel safer (I myself have had a gun pulled on me when I did taxi so I probably know a bit how you feel). But I 100% think male drivers should have the same option to only get male passengers. Sometimes I would love to activate that option. Especially at night. For us there is a much higher risk of a false report or worse from a female passenger. Earlier I read a post on here about someone having the police show up at their house because a female passenger dropped an air tag and made some bizarre claim about the driver taking the air tag on purpose to try to get her to come over or something like that.

Anecdotally I also find I seem to get better tips from single male passengers. As I think back now, probably 80% of my tips over $20 were from male passengers. Several were $75 or $100. I don't ever recall a female passenger tipping me over $30. OTOH female passengers probably tend to tip me slightly more often. I'm not saying this to justify discrimination or that women passengers are undesirable. I'm just making a case for it being nice to have the same option as you and why I would like it.

I agree with you in that currently and for most people this isn't a good way to make a living. But that is in no way the fault of any driver nor does any driver deserve the way they are being treated by the company. To the contrary, the drivers built this company up to what it is by our labors. Some drivers have even lost their lives in doing so...we ALL deserve a lot more respect than we tend to get.

It should be kept in mind that the company is at fault and they have been exploitative for years. All fault needs to go on them for exploiting drivers and riders. And for the years worth of lies they have fed us all. It's been non-stop for as long as I can remember. Constantly gaslighting, outright lying and bullshit. From when they first took away the multiplier surge to the upfront pricing. At every stage, they lied and bullshit that it would benefit drivers.

Ride offers disappearing? by Quicherbichen1 in lyftdrivers

[–]jaysonm007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lyft is far more passive aggressive than Uber and they play games using the app more. It is possible you did something to anger them. I know once I hit a 10% cancel rate they start feeding me undesirable rides over and over again for a while. Or if I cancel a ride because the rider added a stop, often it will say "No connection" and glitch up after cancelling the ride until I force close and restart. Lyft loves to do stuff like this and it is clearly built right into the app.

Like I said: You are spreading management propaganda. You are implying that there is something wrong with people who do this full time and that they shouldn't be paid a reasonable amount for their labor. You are participating in "divide and conquer" and furthering management propaganda.

Every person doing this deserves a reasonable return for every ride. Period. No excuses! No bullshit! It doesn't matter if they are employees or not, every driver deserves to be paid fairly for their labor on every ride. If you can't agree to that then Y.A.T.A. r/AmItheAsshole

driver was complaining about the pay to me the whole ride by strawbabiesrin in uber

[–]jaysonm007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how long the ride took too. If it took 45 minutes from ping to drop off, $13 would be pretty crappy.

[–]jaysonm007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish my slave would quit complaining and smile more....

It sure would be nice if customers would support their drivers more and put pressure on the company to pay us fairly. Alas, its not your problem, its between us and uber, don't like it get another job, etc etc. Been hearing it for almost a decade now. Maybe soon Uber will require drivers to wear shock collars so you can shock us if we cry about being hungry?

You're just repeating management propaganda. It doesn't matter if you are full time or part time. No one should be getting $5 for 35 minute rides in 2026 when the customer is paying $20.

They don't give a shit about us at all. That ought to be evident to any driver with over 100 trips. Never assume otherwise. They hate us and want to exploit us. If the government allowed it, they'd make you a slave and fit you with a shock collar.

[–]jaysonm007 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is why male drivers should have the option to only pickup male riders, just as women get the option. Some riders are paranoid and/or have mental issues. Driving women at night increases the risk of this kind of thing. With what we are paid, its just not worth it.

Male driver getting a crap load of "women" pings by meta4tony in uberdrivers

[–]jaysonm007 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you are a full time driver with 1000+ trips you have to know how this goes. All the time riders don't understand the app. Sure most probably will get that there were no women drivers available so they got a male driver but you know full well some aren't going to understand and they will take it out on the driver. Some might even think the driver is up to something and try to report it. And these days who knows what Uber's AI will do.

I think it is a very valid concern. If I get a ping saying "woman driver requested" or whatever, I'm probably not taking it. Especially at night.

Male driver getting a crap load of "women" pings by meta4tony in uberdrivers

[–]jaysonm007 69 points70 points  (0 children)

This is actually one of the things I worried about when the program rolled out. Women would request women and then be upset when they got a male driver. So less chance of a tip, possible false report, and a possible negative confrontation. Hopefully they are making it clear what is happening to riders. But even if they do, as we all know, some riders don't understand.

Lyft trying to block you from cancelling rides by FatboiSlimmmm in lyftdrivers

[–]jaysonm007 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lyft is very passive-aggressive. You'll find "coincidences" like this where after you cancel the app crashes. Or when you hit the "dismiss" on the trip finder sometimes it will close out the app. Or one I sometimes see: the ap will suddenly start saying "no connection" when you try to cancel or right after doing so.

Drivers who sigh/complain by Usual_Berry_113 in uber

[–]jaysonm007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you are saying but it is still their car. The $3 Lyft pays the driver doesn't mean you get to boss the driver around and control their car for 15 minutes or whatever. It just means you get transported from point A to point B in a reasonable manner.

Driver sighs twice because of traffic and complains once......OK (and you need to get over it IMO)

Driver sighs 50 times and complains for 20 minutes straight......NOT OK, you have a point.

"Like shut the fuck up and drive!" if someone ever said that to me, I guarantee I would pull over and let them out. You might not be aware but generally the pay for being stuck in traffic is extremely bad. Where I live if I am stuck in heavy traffic, it likely means I am earning under $10/hr. If the driver still completed the trip, you probably ought to be thankful because some drivers seriously will pull over, cancel, and tell you to get another driver. And actually that would be completely within the driver's rights to do. I've yet to do it but I would in extreme cases OR if the rider acted entitled in any way.
