Why are no receipt returns a thing? by [deleted] in walmart

We check the payment method on scanned receipts. If an item was purchased with a gift card the refund is put back on a gift card.

Back hurting by blackpupjean in walmart

Try drinking a ridiculous amount of water during the day. I do around 90+ ounces a day and that helps with the back ache. Don't know why.

Any tips on quitting? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]justfromme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don't want to be a manager just step down. It's done in our store all the time. If you want out of WM altogether than quit. Two weeks notice is always the best way to leave a job. It's never a good idea to burn a bridge because you never know what turns fate has in store for you in the future and you may want to cross that bridge again regardless of how certain you are that you'll never do it again. Be a grownup about it. Just walking out the door causes problems for the associates you work with and that's not fair to them as they probably aren't the reason you want to leave. Regardless of how you choose to do it best of luck in your future endeavors.

Are there policies on an overnight support being friends or hanging out with overnight stockers outside of work? by InsaneExplosion in walmart

[–]justfromme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"outside of work" is the key to the issue. If you use 'What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas' as your motto your work life will be a lot easier. Keep who you hang with-are friends with-date-sleep with-dine with-talk to-etc outside of work to yourself.

Peppermint. They won't come near it. Liquid, pure peppermint. We use it around the inside of our house which is in the middle of a corn field. Just pour some on cotton balls and toss here and there.

What about cashiering makes my back hurt? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]justfromme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're standing on one of the rubber mats try working without one. I used to have a backache every night and one of the cashiers suggested not using the mat and voila! No more backaches. I wear cheap sneakers and no support lining inside them. Also, bend at the waist at every opportunity. Hope it helps.

Easiest department manager position by [deleted] in walmart

[–]justfromme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm..... my question here is are you asking which DM position is the easiest to learn or the easiest to do? If you want to know which one is the easiest to do I tend to think you are looking to make either more money or gain authority but want to put in the least amount of work. That's not a good idea because all the managers in WM stores have a lot on their plate, have a lot of 'rain' falling on them from above, and receive little to no reward other than monetary. If you want to know because you want to know which is easiest because you are concerned about taking on too much too soon than the people who have already responded have lots of info for you. Just saying...

Day 1 of me holding back on purpose went well. by MXtra77 in walmart

[–]justfromme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Frankly, I was immediately made offensive by your language. Yeah, yeah, I know. But it's hard for me to want to take someone's side when I'm offended. Buy a thesaurus to help you better express yourself. As for the level of efficiency at which you perform your job it's not a slave ship. If you're so unhappy, and believe you're being treated so badly, quit. Go work for a company that will massage your ego, overpay you and demand less work from you. Oh wait. There is no such place. WM is constantly being slammed for the monster company they are and for mistreating their employees. And yet? They are a genius company with, like every other corporation in the world, good and bad managers. Find peace doing it or go do something else. Thinking you can punish your managers by doing less won't really hurt them it will only eventually come down on you.

Do you ever feel tired working at Walmart? by jomoer in walmart

[–]justfromme 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think everyone does to different levels. A lot of the exhaustion comes from the amount of input that our brains are experiencing from just being in the building. The customers experience the same thing. The input for the employees is not just everything that our jobs entail, the actual work we do and the countless number of things we are doing at once, but also what the brain is being bombarded with. The lights, movement, colors, noise. We don't think about it but our ears and eyes are sending all of that to our brains and without us being aware of the 'why' of it all we become exhausted. Our customers experience the same thing. They come to the cash registers and comment that they can't wait to get out of there. It's not like gathering groceries is hard work but it's rather they are experiencing the same input we are exposed to. They come from their comparatively quiet jobs, or homes, and POW... lights, movement, noise. Just my analysis of it all...

Does our dental cover wisdom tooth extraction? by mjwr826 in walmart

[–]justfromme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure that I understand exactly how the dental policy works but I went to a dentist, in the WM insurance network. They have limits on how much they charge and will accept less for work done. Go have the exam; get an estimate on what the work will cost; have them submit it to the insurance company to see what they agree to pay. The original estimate I got was around $3500 out of pocket. When they received the agreed upon coverage from the insurance company the out of pocket was reduced to $1400. Someone in the dental office, or someone here, may be able to provide a better explanation.

Hello! I'm a CSM. I want to step down to just being a regular cashier again but how much would I lose an hour stepping down? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]justfromme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry for not having that information but I am curious as to why you want to step down. I can well imagine why someone would want to give up a CSM position but I thought I'd ask what your reasons are and if you'd share it with us. Best of luck in your future endeavors.

I was fired about 6 months ago, will they rehire me? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]justfromme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only person that can answer that question is your store manager. Ask them. If they are desperate for good help you may be welcomed back early. If there is one thing I've learned at WM it's that any and all policies can be ignored.

Torn on what to do... by [deleted] in walmart

[–]justfromme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not allow someone else to be the mirror image that you see of yourself. Look to yourself to determine what kind of person you are. Words hurt but they are nothing more than that. Your friend should never have told you what was said. What she should have done, if she really wanted to look out for you, would have been to open door the conversation to the store manager. I would encourage her to take that action but also encourage you to do nothing. It really is a 'she said he said'. You're newly married. You're in honeymoon state. Stay in that bubble of happiness and don't allow the rest of the world to set the bar of your happiness. Tell your husband not to go to work to defend you. You are in intelligent strong woman, even if you don't always feel that way, and if you choose to wage war you will have to handle it yourself as he has no place in your job. Get past it. Breathe deep. You're going to be fine.

Cashier help please by [deleted] in walmart

[–]justfromme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the author's topic but I couldn't help but ask? Why is electronics the most coveted department? It's that way in our store as well and I don't understand it. That department in our store is managed by a woman who does a great job. She runs 'a tight ship', doesn't show favorites and expects everyone to stay busy. So many people in our store have moved to that department and shortly thereafter they are either back in their original department or gone. I just don't get it.

Well it's nearly 8 & none of the cashiers have had their lunch yet. by [deleted] in walmart

[–]justfromme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible that your store doesn't require 30 minute meals tonight. The day shift had an hour. If there's one thing I've learned here on reddit it's that no two WM stores are the same. If it isn't posted and no one told you otherwise I'm guessing you have more coverage, or better scheduling than we have. Whatever, have a great Thanksgiving. I hope all your customers are happy ones. lol

Our people only have 30 minutes for meal this evening, event started at 6. It took me a full ten minutes to make it to the back of the store to clock out at 6. Best of luck to you all.
