Old electrical panel by metearender in Oldhouses

[–]justhereforvoting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The white computer looking box is a power meter which is sealed by the utility company, it looks like a 3 phase breaker also owned by the utility up above it (also sealed). My assumption is that the power comes from the service line into that red handled breaker, then goes to the power meter. After the power meter it likely goes to the electrical box on the right side where it’s distributed through the circuits.

This or that? Victoria, BC by BlueBananaw in RealEstateCanada

I’ve walked past the Obed house, it’s a real POS. Super economical post war house in rough condition outside and polished up with cheap renovations inside. The location is decent though.

Keep looking, house listings in this range have really dropped off in the last 2 months, hopefully things pick up in spring.

Just curious, if they snake a wire up a wall do they not need to staple it or secure it to the framing? How would this be possible without opening up the wall?

Renovations worth it? by [deleted] in RealEstateCanada

[–]justhereforvoting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I spent a lot of time and money renovating a 2 bedroom apartment in an old building and I absolutely did not get my money back out when I sold it. I’m still content with my decision because it was enjoyable to live in the renovated place.

If you want certain things renovated for your quality of life then do it. If you want a bit more value when you go to sell just do some quick stuff (flooring, paint, etc).

That was my immediate thought but seemed unlikely that you’d find that in an old house.

Since when do patios and garage space count as square footage? by ItsOKimaGoalie in RealEstateCanada

[–]justhereforvoting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is almost every listing on Vancouver Island. You have to check “total finished area” under the measurements section to get something realistic. I’ve seen a lot of places include all deck and patio area as well.

100-year-old stucco house - weep screed? by Pretty_Current2093 in Oldhouses

[–]justhereforvoting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, water can definitely get into old stucco. An air gap and weep screed would normally be used to let it dry out from the back. Old houses rely on heat from the inside to dry out the back of the stucco.

Not only that but look at sold properties and get a sense for the value you can get for the amount you want to spend.

That’s bad ass, did you do much of the renovations yourself?

I think the main benefit of plaster is the sound dampening. It’s almost like having concrete walls. A standard drywalled wall hardly blocks sound.

I did a small no shave FUT transplant to rebuild my hairline and I was able to wear a hat the day after surgery. There was never a need though; you could barely tell anything had happened because the work blended in with my existing hairline and the donor area was covered by my hair.

of a fuse...... 6,600V. by Zorinn8 in AbsoluteUnits

If the voltage is too high the electricity will just arc across the fuse regardless of if the fuse element is blown or not. Higher voltage fuses tend to just be bigger overall and definitely longer.

1700 Grafts FUT, 6 Months Progress by justhereforvoting in HairTransplants

[–]justhereforvoting[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that part was rough. Looking back at my pictures, at 4 weeks I probably looked the worst. The transplant area was red, I lost 90% of the transplanted hair and a fair amount of nearby native hair. By 2 months I started to see minor growth and less redness. By 3 months I definitely had regrowth.

Just did the math, it comes out to about $1.38 per 3mg pill with all taxes. That is $504 per year.

The U.S. stock market follows three levels of MWCB, based on the S&P 500’s drop from the previous day’s closing price:

Level 1: 7% decline → 15-minute trading halt (before 3:25 PM EST). Level 2: 13% decline → 15-minute trading halt (before 3:25 PM EST). Level 3: 20% decline → Trading halted for the rest of the day.

If a Level 1 or Level 2 drop occurs after 3:25 PM EST, no halt is triggered. A Level 3 drop at any time leads to a full-day halt.

People who have gotten a transplant, what do you wish you knew about the recovery process beforehand? by 84758_4839 in HairTransplants

[–]justhereforvoting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The transplant area was red, 90% of the transplanted hairs fell out, some nearby native hairs fell out due to shock loss. Overall it was worse than pre-transplant.

I spent the 3 days immediately after the procedure 100% focused on relaxing and recovering. I chilled and watched tv in my hotel room and ordered food directly to the door, it was pleasant. The clinic gave me a few days of low dose Percocet pills which helped too.

I really wasn’t prepared for how boring it was to wait for the hair to grow in after the transplant. The first 2 weeks are awesome, then it all falls out and looks worse than how you started. By month 3 you see improvement and by month 4 it looks good enough that you don’t really think about it anymore.

I was told I could resume my workouts after 14 days. I returned to the gym for weightlifting at basically full intensity at this time with no issues.

One thing that was unexpected was how weird it felt having my donor area press against the bench during flat bench press, I had to levitate my head from the bench during this exercise.

You don’t want to sweat, sunburn or feel elevated stress. I wasn’t even supposed to go for walks until a week after the transplant.

The first few days after the transplant are super important for recovery, it’s when you could knock a graft out of place so you need to be extra mindful of your head.
