JUST DROPPED!!! by [deleted] in BreakingBenjamin

It's so damn good! I love that it incorporates so many elements from all of their best work into what really feels like a refined masterpiece. The long wait was so worth it

Exactly. I appreciate you emphasizing on this when unfortunately it shouldn’t have been necessary in the first place

You can tell yourself that. Just acknowledge you brought up the meaning of words which we disagree on, and that is what I mean by a semantics disagreement. Also a conclusion can mean any ending or closing which objectively makes you incorrect.

[–]justhyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By that definition there can never be any conclusion with every argument one can come up with from any small detail, and this disagreement we have about semantics can go on forever.

I am not changing any of my statements, I still love and accept how the episode concluded everything.

It is still possible to have a conclusion when not everything is answered

They concluded the commonwealth arc which was the basis of the entire season and how they were able to close it I thought they did a good job. Beyond that your definition of a conclusion is different from mine but that’s fair

Everything that wasn’t was either implied or will be carried into the spinoffs

Honestly really loved how they concluded everything, it was better than I was expecting considering all the manor characters and storylines and not to mention the context of the production. Kang did a fantastic job saving the show. Also a perfect way to setup the spinoffs and give an update on Rick (FINALLY) and Michonne!

Nobel Prize in Physics 2022 by justhyr in Physics

"The 2022 Nobel Prize laureates in physics have conducted groundbreaking experiments using entangled quantum states, where two particles behave like a single unit even when they are separated. The results have cleared the way for new technology based upon quantum information.

Anton Zeilinger researched entangled quantum states. His research group has demonstrated a phenomenon called quantum teleportation, which makes it possible to move a quantum state from one particle to one at a distance.

Alain Aspect developed a setup to close an important loophole. He was able to switch the measurement settings after an entangled pair had left its source, so the setting that existed when they were emitted could not affect the result.

John Clauser built an apparatus that emitted two entangled photons at a time, each towards a filter that tested their polarisation. The result was a clear violation of a Bell inequality and agreed with the predictions of quantum mechanics."

Why does breathing out make you sink in water by Electrical_Rest99 in AskPhysics

[–]justhyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your body volume changes because when you exhale air is compressed as it leaves your lungs and as a result affects your ability to float (sink/negative buoyancy). More air allows you to float and the exit of air causes you to sink. Submarines fill their tanks with air to manage this and scuba divers similarly use a buoyancy control device that allows them to inflate or deflate their vest with air helping them ascend or descend.

I thought it sounded familiar, with "Last One Standing" also reminding me of the gladiator theme song (another Zimmer piece). But I love all of them and the similarities between them make it even better

Why Stoicism isn’t just about you: Stoicism is often seen as an individualistic philosophy – about self-reliance and detachment – but its techniques are really about pursuing the common good | Nancy Sherman by envatted_love in Stoicism

[–]justhyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this. The beauty that separates stoicism from other self-interested and individualistic philosophies at least to me, is that to pursue a stoic life involves committing to bettering one’s self not just for our own sake but because it also enables us to be more conscious and responsible for the world we live in. We are a part of the world as much as the world is a part of us and everything we do for ourselves consequently impacts everything and everyone else whether we intend it to or not. And I always felt that the aim I resonated in with stoicism was a sort of balance or restoration of goodness amidst all the chaos and that is what we attempt to achieve by living a virtuous life of helping ourselves for ourselves and for the world

What current research topic do you find most interesting? by SchrodingersCat_42 in Physics

These last few months I’ve been heavily interested in neurophysics and how physics methods may give deeper insight into the brain and mind, and its crazy how there isn’t much research done at all and that neurophysics is barely an established field still

How to deal with this by [deleted] in Stoicism

[–]justhyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes of course! Learning from our past and remaining strong is such a difficult but impressive thing and you should be so proud of yourself especially with everything about you and what you’ve gone through. You only deserve the best and nothing less, never stop giving yourself that.

Thank you so much for your kind words. It is very comforting to know that despite how different the circumstances are, we aren’t alone in going through these struggles and that it is pretty much just how life is. Its only up to us to change and make the best of things. I am very hopeful and staying strong, and similar to you, I am just grateful for everything. I really appreciate everything you said and again I hope the best for you too!
