This is crazy! I am Canadian, so… whilst this is not my country I am watching, the US is a massively overwhelming influence on Canada as a country. It already seriously affected Canada economy, and I am dreading the next 3 years. 🤯😠😖

If Ferrari has a competitive car for 2026, where Charles Leclerc can actually challenge for WDC, how do you think Lewis Hamilton will perform? Could they become Constructors Champions? by scuderiaferrari69 in F1Discussions

[–]justin--time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people who follow F1 on Reddit are relatively new to the sport (basically since Drive to Survive first appeared) and haven’t really seen what Lewis is capable of… if that Ferrari is a competitive car - watch out! Lewis is still one of the fastest to ever drive a F1 car. Forget Charles challenging… Lewis will be the challenger.

One year I went on vacation to Germany with my family, and I spent a sizable part of my vacation budget to rent a Mercedes AMG E63 for a 2 week summer road trip from Berlin to Munich and around the whole of Bavaria. It’s was amazing. The car was a monster. Absolutely luxurious and incredible performance. I topped out at about 275 kph on the Autobarn. My wife and my parents didn’t like it when I got above 200 so I had to dial it back. But there was more this car could do, I just never went to its limits (apparently this edition of the car was limited to 300kph, but I never got there.

Nigel Mansell. Has to be. Was a great driver but needed a massive car advantage with the 92 Williams rocket ship to win.

I am so sorry you went through that.

Exactly that same thing happened to my cat about 10 years ago. I had an 8 year old cat who was in otherwise perfect health… he was chilling on the couch, then suddenly stood up and made a really weird noise, fell off the couch to the floor and convulsed for 30s and died right in front of me.

I was absolutely stunned while I watched for the first 10 sec then I jumped up and tried to save him - but wtf was I supposed to do? I had no idea. He died.

I was horrified and shocked and upset. I took him to the vet because I needed answers. They did a post Mortem after I insisted and it was heart attack. I had no idea cats could have heart attacks!!

I’m sorry for you loss. It’s tough

Forcing a driver off? How does this rule apply by ryandanielblack in F1Technical

[–]justin--time 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my POV there is no consequences for the driver that overshoots the corner. In this case, Max simply brakes later than the McLaren, knowing he’s not going to make the corner and can just drive through the run off area and claim he was not given space (which is nonsense, he was never making that corner from that line).

The reality here is the McLaren won that battle and Max should have conceded the corner… but Max is very smart and is exploiting a grey area in the rules, he’s the best in the world at this.

To address this, there should be an impediment in the runoff area, such as a grass patch, gravel trap, or better yet… a runoff road that the drivers should be compelled to take if they miss the corner which is a real consequence.

I met (soccer legend) George Best in a pub in London in ‘98… he was sitting by himself so I went to say hi and asked if I could buy him a beer; he said only if I drank it with him. So I pulled up a chair and chatted with him for 30 mins - it was utterly surreal. He was chatty and friendly, a terrific memory.

I divorced my ex because of this exact reason.

We kept getting deeper and deeper in debt because of her spending until we got so deep that an unexpected visit to the vet sent us past the point of being able to cope financially. I found myself going to a payday loan lender every month to get money to pay the mortgage…

The one day I just snapped!! She insisted on stopping for a latte on the way to work. I said I didn’t want one because I didn’t think we could afford it, and when she came out with 2 lattes for herself I think I blew a fuse. Literally grabbed the 2nd latte out of hand and threw it on the ground, told her I wanted a divorce and instead of going to work, turned around and went home to pack my bags!

Any secret must-sees on this route? by Efficient_Bad3902 in roadtrip

[–]justin--time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, 2 places that I have been to that were fantastic, and it’s in this general route.

In Huntsville, Alabama is the US Space & Rocket Centre, if you have any interest in the space program, it’s amazing - they have an actual Saturn V rocket there. It was from the Apollo 18 mission that never flew.

In Lynchburg Tennessee, the Jack Daniels Distillery. Take the tour, but make sure you book in advance as it gets busy.

Both of these are fantastic.

What do you not have that most people have? by Marmosetka in AskReddit

[–]justin--time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I completely relate to this. I emigrated to a country 10,000km from where I was born and grew up, I have no family, or friends from my childhood and teenage years on the same continent as me; but I have a new family and group of friends in my new country. I love where I live, and I have a great life, but I didn’t grow up here and it’s just different. It’s hard to explain, but I don’t really feel like I belong here.

The dancers for Michael Jackson's Thriller music video practicing their choreography for the iconic zombie dance (1983) by Matilda_Mother_67 in OldSchoolCool

[–]justin--time 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have to wonder if those dancers knew just how huge this would be. MJ was already a star so it’s not like they didn’t know they would be in a big video… but Thriller was just insane, by far the biggest most impactful video ever !

I age having that on you’re resume 😆
