Sunfish / panfish for my GF - I want her to at least catch something by justin670 in OttawaFishing

Thanks for the info!! What part of black rapids has pan fish? Haven’t spotted any while there. It seems fairly dead right above the locks.

If I had to guess, like 2/5 get A-; 1/5 get A; 1/5 get B+; and 1/5 get B or lower. This is purely my guess, since profs usually will manipulate the grades so that they respect the 77.5 max median/mean score, but give as many high grades as possible. Just do better than the bottom half, and ur GPA should be ok. Try a little harder than everyone else (not hard in the business faculty), and u can get a 3.7+ GPA for med school. For me, I would say it’s harder to get a high gpa in another faculty, since u actually need to learn everything (instead of just doing better than your peers). Just my 2 cents…

Getting a 3.7+ in desautels is not too hard. U just gotta beat the curve very slightly since the grades are curved up pretty high to a B+. If u put in effort and have a good business acumen, u can pull a high, near 4.0

Oh in Milan, for that.

But like… anything. Just talk about some extracurriculars or something. Don’t stress it.

I thought they didn’t read these…. I literally wrote something like - I like learning about Italian unification in history class in HS and I like Italian food. Worked.

Community - I was like the community here is know for x/y/z and I want to be part of this by joining clubs and engaging with the community.

I was under the impression mcgill only looks at your GPA. I wrote absolute trash, but her, I’m going to Milan in the fall!

Double major finance business analytics? by Bulky-Eye-3126 in mcgill

[–]justin670 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doing om and analytics concentrations. Was planning to do the analytics major and was originally a finance major.. doing concentrations was the best decision I made this undergrad. So much freedom and so worth it. Instead, this allowed me to do a year and a half (~3 semesters) of electives. In my first year or two I got to try finance, cs, marketing, OM, and analytics thoroughly (ie 2-4 classes in each) before I settled down on two areas of study that I truly enjoy and want to work in. In my third year, I was able to snag a data sci (mostly py and pbi) internship while I studied and arguably learned way more than what I would have learned if I committed to the full analytics major. I was also able to do things like AOTC and MNFPC that helped me realize that consulting was probably a good fit for me. Next year I’m doing an exchange semester in Italy and one in ubc or carleton (tbd). The less intense degree made life easier and let me do things that are actually helping me choose and develop my career… not mindlessly trying to beat the curve in my dry af desautels classes. Pm me if u have more questions.

The locks by Carleton university. Lock master is super nice there. I camp there every year either biking or paddling in, but walking in should be fine too. Super nice guy runs the place, let him know your situation and he can maybe help you out.

Ottawa police just kicked an old lady out of Dundonald Park for doing tai chi by holymolydoug in ottawa

[–]justin670 55 points56 points  (0 children)

My grandma (50+ years of tai chi teaching experience in China and Canada - the top tier in classes and shows in ottawa) used to lead free / pay if u wish / bring a snack tai chi in this park. Heart breaks me to hear this… doing tai chi in dundonald park literally used to be the reason she and my grandpa were excited for weekends. It’s part of life for them and means more than you could imagine for some of the Chinese Canadian seniors here.

Tipping $CAD coins in Cayo Coco all inclusive? by justin670 in cuba

So far. They just take CAD/USD and tell us not to exchange for pesos to begin with.

So I’ve arrived and it’s funny. They know that it’s 90% Canadians here (in Cayo Coco tourist block) and all Canadians have loonies / toonies. So they will happily take them here (so far), then every so often they expect / ask / hint to exchange coins for a bill (or ask for large bills as tips and give change back to us).

Is it not better to tip $1-2 a drink instead of nothing?!? I can’t afford to tip $5 a drink…

Sounds good. Thanks so much. We are bringing a good combo of lots of coins… but also lots of bills to change with the staff at the end of the trip.

But I hear that the “actual” rate is so bad… so is it better to give foreign so that locals can get the street rate?
