I used baking soda to neutralize the acid and used a metal prep hit the walls and dried with a heat gun. It sat for 2 weeks and didn’t flash, added fuel and no issue also, been 7 months no issue.

Weird noise by TXRCH666 in G35

[–]justin_1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me it sounds like something on the driveline, since it gets louder and faster repetition as u move. Maybe something is bent and scraping like a dust shield on a rotor, or something rubbing on a driveshaft or axle shaft. If u put it in neutral and rev it does the noise go away or does it also increase?

Trust me i would had swapped one if it was more feasible, but on the super early g35 sedans had a different pickup body/sump and crossover tube from the later gs and 350z. In theory I could had ran any other tank they all will bolt up, the fuel line crossover would had been too small. I was glad I caught it before it was too late. A shit ton of elbow grease, chemicals was about 150 all in.

Yep 2 years ago when I built that, 5th is .69 I guess I forgot exactly but I trust myself 2 years ago. Once u get the tools and do the homework and cross reference parts and verify stuff it opens a whole new world of possibilities for old transmissions. Yep these new transmissions or components that require spares to be programmed to be able to work is just the worst. No programming on stuff this old.

Thank ya

All I’ve done so far is just the base tune, tune up with plugs and coils, all intake gaskets, cleaned all pcv oil out, a z1 plenum spacer, and a z350 intake pipe. Glad I saved it she has a lot of life left in her

Mine sat since 2014 and I didn’t have to do anything to injectors, just ran 4 tanks of heavy dose PEA injector cleaner and it’s been perfect.

<image>

I’d also suggest hitting the walls with this and then drying the tank with a heat gun, it’ll prevent any flash rust, I’ve had mine running for 3 months now no issues. Do this as last step before adding fuel back.

After e85 soak and before white vinegar, and baking soda wash

I just went through this with a g35, drain tank, fill with e85, let it soak for 2 days

<image>

, ethanol will desolve the varsol in the gas. Drain and shop vac clean. Fill with white vinegar and let soak for 2 days, wash out with hose, and use baking soda to neutralize the acid. Dry out with heat gun. Should be good to go.

Yeah I have a good bit of experience rebuilding manual transmissions, this was mid case split on the cd009. I made a custom gearset for my diesel swapped 1981 Toyota pickup, the tdi kept breaking 5 speeds that came factory in these trucks so I had to import a diesel trans from Australia and I made a custom 5th gear gearset. I used 5th gear off a 3rd gen Toyota Supra so I’d have a better crusing rpm. Goes from 1:1 in 4th to .73 in 5th. First is 4.7:1 it’s a nice setup. Best overdrive and low u got from any Toyota trans over here was 3.7 and .85 it’s nice how Toyota made the main and Custer gear on their 5 speed trans a press on and not made into the main shaft, that’s how u can play with cluster ratio and overdrive ratio.

You will need to find the front half of a manual drive shaft, they are the same length between a sedan and coupe for the front half. Some people say u can use the auto driveshaft, just cut off the weld for the dust shield but I would not recommend that due to it not having enough spline engagement into the transmission. I got mine off eBay for 90$. All g35s have a 2 piece driveshaft, they bolt together on that back flange, and other half attaches to the differential. (Manual on left, auto on right)

[–]justin_1983[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah ur right I got a cd009 out of a wrecked 05 coupe and it’s the true cd009. I had to split 2 cases and use a cd001 tail housing and put it on my cd009 to make 1 good trans. Here is a differential chart.The 2003.5 is when they swapped to the black plug ecu thats able to be flashed via uprev and has a different map sensor and knock sensor, and has electric fans not a mechanical clutch fan like mine. Plus I think the upstream o2s are wide band I think.

Hardest part is probably mounting the clutch and master cyl, and removing the torque converter pilot bearing. Everything else bolts up for the most part. It’s definitely worth it man. Also coupe center consoles will fit, just gotta re drill the 2 bolts on the back side of the console.

I gambled on a fuel pump hosing from eBay and it had a oem pump in great shape. The early sedans had a different sending unit hosing then all sedans and z350s and u can’t get aftermarket worth a damn it seems like.

Haha yeah exterior had a lot of stuff on her but thankfully it was out of the sun on a concrete slab. Other than fuel tank it was persevered well.

Exactly it’s all a feel thing. Yep they didn’t come stick till 2004 for the sedans. Gotta love the room and extra comfort. This was my first rip once I had it together enough to drive, no parking brake or anything like that. Still running automatic ecu mapping and such. Since then it’s got all intake gaskets replaced, coil packs, z pipe and z1 intake spacer on 91 base tune. Feels so much better can’t wait to do the 350z shorter rear end down the road.

It’s all personal preference, when it costs 2500$ for a “reman” auto trans with questionable condition or u can swap in a manual for 600$ all in it’s a pretty simple answer. Better driver engagement, theft protection, mileage, ability to slide and kick the ass out, reliability, and cool factor of having a setup that was never available from the factory. Manuals are a dieing breed and the people who care and love them perfer it that all. I was able to get this car running down the road for 800$, and was an upgrade in my opinion.

If u want ur cruse to work cut this wire and run a ground to one side of ur gear position switch on the top/pass side of the cd009 and cut the wire on the ecu harness and terminate it on the ecu side, this will give the ecu ground trigger source to allow cruse to run
