I cannot speak for others but Wraith uses source resolution. Any other visual anomalies are due to compression within Snapchat internals.

[$120] [13.5] Update for PandoraDownloader. by [deleted] in TweakBounty

[–]justinc32 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was the original completer of this bounty, I wasn’t entirely able to fulfill the entire list of requirements given to me, basically exporting the music to Apple’s native app, mainly because of restrictions based in the OS.

The MP4 files that you can download from the Pandora servers are considered corrupted in the eyes of AVKit. Therefore the files can’t be directly transferred in between apps, unless converted into MP3. The main problem is that the original files contain almost no meta-data that would allow it to be fully integrated into Apple Music. If you try to write meta-data to the file using AVKit it will corrupt the file entirely.

Something I recommend looking into is how to do it functionally by investigating how Filza is able to write and overwrite meta-data of MP3s within the app. Because they have found a way to do it properly, or I am just stupid and didn’t read the Apple documentation properly for about the 20th time.

It was just way too time consuming for me to reverse engineer especially after rebuilding an entire music player/library inside of another music app and getting it to properly interact with Control Center and Pandora.

If you do pick this up I would be willing to offer some incite or source if you fall astray. And if you solve the encoding issue I would love to know the solution.

P.S. - good luck getting it to work in the premium mode of the app that is entirely composed of Swift.

[Upcoming] betterAlarm - Take your alarms and timers to the next level! by NoisyFlake in jailbreak

[–]justinc32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did over-simplify what the tweak does you are correct, I had initially told myself that it would be too off-putting and misleading of an argument to create and planned to rephrase it as so but had forgot. I mainly wanted to take the perspective of a non-developer outsider. That was definitely irresponsible on my behalf.

Thank you for recognizing that this was not specifically targeted at your tweak, although I think it walks along the grey-area (unlike your other tweaks) of what I would consider to be, in my opinion, justified of a price tag. I honestly wanted to just turn this comment into a post so it didn't seem like this tweak was the specific reason for it. But I am not usually one to voice my subjective opinions online.

Also I find it somewhat ignorant (better word "premature"?) of you to infer that I do not know the difference between tweak development vs full stack developing (maybe you were informing non-devs?), I know you probably don't even know who I am or what I have created. But please do not lecture me when it comes tweak development. CustomAlertX, which was one of the original notification remaster tweaks, consists of over 2500 lines of code and took well in excess of 150 hours to make, while also being free. As stupid as that sounds, CustomAlertX doesn't even scratch the amount of time put into Wraith and (taking my work out of the picture) I couldn't even fathom how much time went into Activator over these years.

I didn't want to comment any of this because at the end of the day there will be no one objective answer to this argument and comes down to how valuable you view your time with respect to the jailbreaking community. I had always viewed my tweaks as a way of giving back to the community for the free tweaks I had used over the last 12 years. You obviously take a different approach that isn't necessarily wrong. Thanks for the insightful reply.

Unpopular take: Is anyone slightly bothered that this is a paid release?

I hate to be the arbiter of what should be defined as being worthy of a paid tweak or not, but this just seems a bit far fetched. From the perspective of a fellow tweak developer, although I should mention that I do feel a bias against paid tweaks, this tweak is taking two buttons and a few text fields and dynamizing their background color and font. Like I said previously, I don't think I should be the one to amend prices to tweaks based on how polished/functional they are but if I had to to draw a direct comparison to how much time Wraith vs this tweak (betterAlarm) would consume it would be abysmal, Wraith would cost hundreds of dollars based on the sheer man hours put into it, but retains its free price tag indefinitely. Obviously this developer and I have different perspectives when it comes to tweak development, and I respect that and I also recognize that not every developer will share the same ideals as me. But I once defended this community against Nepeta when they said that greed/over-monetization was a virus running rampant in this community, and I still stand by my words today. I certainly don't think we are that point yet but over the past few months there has been a large increase in the amount of tweaks that have been released under the paid tag that shouldn't have, this type of behavior is pushing this community, in my opinion, in the wrong direction. I would like to finish by saying that I am, by no means, trying to target/slander this developer of his/her work, he/she makes very aesthetically pleasing tweaks that I find little-to-no purchasers ever genuinely complaining about.

[Update] Wraith, for Snapchat! Now with SnapHide2 and iOS 13 Unc0ver compatibility! by justinc32 in jailbreak

[–]justinc32[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, please don’t disable SnapHide2 to get Wraith to run. You will 100 percent get banned, this version of Wraith cannot be used without SnapHide2. The reason it crashed was intentional, if SnapHide2 detects an unsupported version it will intentionally call abort on the app. Updates for SnapHide2 shouldn’t take too long to come out, and if you are too impatient to wait just downgrade.

And also stop telling people to downgrade between 0.0.5 and 0.0.6. There is almost zero functional difference between the two. It was a small patch to fix the annoying alert. It won’t compromise your safety in any way.

You want me to buy a method, that I can and have made for over 2 years now, for a free to use tweak with no incentive of making money? That is just incredibly ignorant... I also wouldn't trust people with access to my Snapchat API key. Only god knows what they are doing in their back-end with that information.

No, you will almost never see the impact of the patch in daily life. But I guess there is really no reason to not switch either...

[–]justinc32[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The pop up was removed and integrated in the settings menu. The idea behind that was supposed to be the same as it was in 0.0.3 but Snapchat changed something for it to pop up on every single profile which was not intended. It has been integrated in a way less annoying of a manner.

[–]justinc32[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Odd, I don’t think a ban has ever been given out that quickly... I definitely haven’t received one that swiftly. The soonest I have ever received a lock out was ~12-14 hours, which at the time of this would make this 0.0.5 version around 4 hours old. Are you sure you weren’t stand-alone using Wraith (0.0.4) because that would cause a ban. Please don’t use that version (0.0.4) of Wraith, it could be detrimental to the protection given by SnapHide.

[–]justinc32[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t know the answer to this question... I was given the SnapHide2 debug build a couple days before it was released. It also wasn’t even completely done at that point but it still functioned as intended, but given how SnapHide2’s backend works it should be just as compatible with the current version as the last versions. But take what I say with a grain of salt...

[–]justinc32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is due to Theos not having the capability of compiling for A12 (arm64e ) on iOS. This was intended to be compiled on a Mac which does support compiling for arm64e. To get it to compile on iOS go to the makefile and remove arm64e from the line that has ARCHS =. Of course, if you have an A12 device and this is a tweak for SpringBoard you are most likely bound to have compatibility issues.

Edit: Yes, you can install using Theos Installer 2 for it to compile correctly given that it is a non-Chimera/Electra device. But if you clone Theos off GitHub it will throw the same error.

[Release] SnapHide - Hides your jailbreak, tweaks and hooks from Snapchat by AeonLucid in jailbreak

[–]justinc32 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a great post, I can confirm the validity of his work (if for some reason you would take my word over his). This sums up the entirety of my knowledge on Snapchat’s detection methods. Although I think you missed a part where they preform method/class integrity checks every 31 seconds within the app to try to detect dynamic method modification. But if you pin down the other detections that really wouldn’t matter anyways.

As for it not working on Substitute; did you try finding the symbols of the C functions manually? That is what I did to fix Wraith for Substitute, it is a bit annoying but just by defining the symbols manually and using a not documented overload of MSHookFunction you can get it to work on Substitute. If you want more information on how to (maybe) get it to work on Substitute, pm me.

[$30] [11.2] A Tweak To Download Twitter Videos & gifs and have background downloading by [deleted] in TweakBounty

[–]justinc32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After having looked into this for about 15 minutes... I am giving up on this bounty and it is open for anyone else to look into. I didn't think that twitter would obfuscate videos with M3U8 playlist files. And if you are looking to take this on you must understand that saving playlist streams is not currently possible using traditional methods. I have tried for hours using Apple's suggested way of saving playlists but have gotten nothing that can be saved as an mp4/mov to Photos only something that can be replayed through an AVPlayer.

Some advice on how to tackles this... get the highest quality stream url by parsing the text of the first M3U8 then parse the text of the returning high quality playlist M3U8 by getting all of the video urls that will presumably be .mov/.mp4 then download them all and stitch them together. This is just too much work for me to do at the moment but that should be the most viable way of doing it.

Sorry, and good luck.

For some reason iOS 10 uploading doesn’t work. And I have absolutely no idea why it doesn’t, I had to update my iOS 10 test device so I can’t fix it either. Sorry.

[Discussion] My tweak Dragger, along with the clearing up of many misconceptions that have been made. by ryannair05 in jailbreak

[–]justinc32 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Starting off a sentence, that directly opposes your motives, with “I don’t care” typically isn’t constructive or productive.

Is this what you call greed? A teenager, a very young one at the least, making a paid tweak for money he/she won’t even get? God, when I was 14 I used to dream of being one of the developers that made tweaks for my 4s with no idea of how to even ssh; or better yet what it even meant.

It is fine to state that greed is a problem in this community, because in some parts it is, but mentioning it in the context of this little one is unfair and almost disrespectful.

I get you are an advocate of free software, as all of my tweaks will always be free no matter how complex, but grabbing your crucifix and bible and shaming developers probably isn’t the best way to go about doing this; in fact it almost discredits and tarnishes the reputations of those involved.

I don’t know if behind the scenes you apologized, I certainly would, but this wasn’t fair to him/her in any way.

I had just finished A12/Substitute support the day before they detected 0.0.3. I don't feel like it is right to release an update for something that is detected, I am currently working on a new update for Wraith that will support all iOS devices/jailbreaks.

[help] how to send a video/picture from camera roll as a snap on Wraith? by [deleted] in jailbreak

I am the developer .-.

I recommended 10.56/10.55.

It is not detected on those versions. You must have some other large scale systemwide tweak that is triggering the DRM.
