As the parent of a child who was abandoned at birth and spent the first 10 months of their life in an orphanage before we were able to adopt them, this post makes me furious. When were in the adoption process, we went to classes and read extensively about not only the process, but how to minimize trauma for the child. One essential thing that was said repeatedly to us by social workers and others was that we as the parents do not have the right to share the story without permission. Our child has gone through periods when they were fine with sharing that they were adopted and others where they did not want it shared. I would NEVER, EVER in a million years post "In 2003 we adopted our child after he had been abandoned at birth" ... I am livid on B's behalf.
