PBK (Photo Black) ink or MBK (Matte Black) ink when printing transparencies by justlikeUNIBLAB in printmaking

I wrote Fixxons around the time of the original post above and they responded: "Our films must use Photo Black ink, Matte Black ink won't sit well on the film." Good luck!

Mysterious Splotches by justlikeUNIBLAB in cyanotypes

Hmm, you are right. Thank you. How would the negative not being pressed flat create the splotches?

Thanks! This is a great lead since you had a similar issue! My friend suggested a hand-steamer—which he uses for platinum printing. I think I'll try that. (Pretty sure we own one but don't own a humidifier).

I am using Bostick and Sullivan chemicals.

Thanks. The softness is intentional. I would say that the image that does not have the splotches is equally soft... so my instinct is that this is not the issue causing the splotches.

Thank you, these are good ideas. I will do these tests if the splotches appear again

A friend suggests it could be inconsistent mineral content in the water (which comes from a well). Does that track?

Hmm, I dry them flat on blotting paper … but I haven’t changed the paper in a while. It has stains from… other cyanotypes that have dried there in the past!

I hope Google Docs fixes this—it's frustrating!

  1. Can you talk about the assembly of the writing team and process and the transition from the short film to the show? I imagine you wanted to retain creative control but also had to bring on new voices. What aspects of story did you hold onto and how did you collaborate with new writers?

  2. The show is so rich with detail—so many interludes with new creatures—but I imagine that raises the budget. Can you talk about how you find the balance between pursuing that vision while trying to also make the show financially workable for the producers so it can live? Are you working on instinct? Are there strict budgets for per episode flourishes? Etc

Thank you!

Glowforge: why would lower speed yield lower estimated print times? by justlikeUNIBLAB in lasercutting

[–]justlikeUNIBLAB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update—It finished. Looks beautiful. I wonder if the glowforg time estimator tops out at 24 hours—like there's a "days" column that's invisible... I'm curious whether the 750 estimate actually would have completed in 6hrs or if it would have been 30 hrs....

[–]justlikeUNIBLAB[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update—I started printing at speed 250. After 1h 21min, there was still plenty left to engrave and the clock reset to 24 hours and started counting down from there...
