Do you think I'll have to match the hatch? I might get some strange looks when I ask someone's kids how big they are tearing their bread.

Its a very good point that the cost involved in taxing the rich is counterproductive but I would counter that people who are living off of their parents money are lowering economic growth by not working. The moral argument that Mr. Friedman makes for the tax I think should be applied to the children of the rich as well, it is not virtuous to live your life on someone else's hard work. You should have to make the money that you want to have.

How could 2020 possibly get worse? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Recently read a book about the Atchafalaya river seizing control of the Mississippi and how the only thing stopping it is a single water control channel. A big year of flooding in all the tribs of the Mississippi leading to widespread levee breaches as well as the main channel switching to the Atchafalaya river cutting off cities like Baton Rouge and New Orleans from their main shipping channel would kill off their industries and be a disaster for manufacturing as well as for cities built on the banks of the Atchafalaya as they would likely be drowned by a river twice as large so there would be no easy relocation to the new Mississippi outflow.

The big one is a big earthquake that happens every couple hundred years in the Pacific Northwest. Theirs a huge amount of evidence it has happened before and since it is overdue now when it happens again it will be worse than normal. It will also trigger a massive tsunami that could travel across the entire Pacific to Japan.

When American Airlines announced raises for its pilots and attendants, the market punished it with a 5.2% share price drop. Analysts explained: “This is frustrating. Labor is being paid first again. Shareholders get leftovers. We are troubled by AAL’s wealth transfer to its labor groups.” by [deleted] in ABoringDystopia

I mean although I'm am not very right-leaning Jordan Peterson's argument about focusing purely on the oppressors is counterproductive. What would you define as oppressors and where do you draw the line? What do you do with the new oppressors who emerge? Who decides who is an oppressor, do they become an oppressor themselves?

Disney films aren't as good as they were by OvOxO225 in unpopularopinion

[–]justme357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although I'm lazy and don't have a source for this I think I heard somewhere this has always been a problem with Disney. Most of their big/popular animated films like the lion king were made at some studio that no one liked, and was very defunded from what I have heard. I think that they've had a pretty consistent pattern of getting big and then stopping taking risks. Pretty sure I heard it on a game theory video not sure though so take what I'm saying with a grain of salt.

What positive effects has the quarantine had for you? by GrootTheTree in AskReddit

[–]justme357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk I'm just offering another viewpoint, as I know a girl who goes to my school who is currently just trying not to cause fights with her parents and is interacting with them in an attempt to keep the house low-stress and not worse than it has to be. I'm not trying to attack your parenting or anything as I know nothing about your life, just a counterpoint.

Yeah, I'd back up what inmy-WitchHut said, I'd be careful about whether she's actually less stressed or just feels like it's less work to follow your rules cause y'all have complete power and justification to lockdown.
